Squid often gets ignored in favour of the more familiar stuff on the counter, which is a shame.

It's fast to cook, takes flavour well, and when it's this fresh it doesn't need much. Score it, season it, 90 seconds in a very hot pan.

Serve with lemon and chilli. Ask us to clean it for you if you'd rather not 🍋🌶️

World Oceans Day 2026 🌊
The theme is Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet 🌍

World leaders have committed to protecting 30% of the ocean by 2030, with the goal of turning that into real conservation outcomes through properly regulated Marine Protected Areas.

Every fish at Kay's of Tadworth comes from small day boats working the protected coastal waters off Dorset. Properly managed MPAs help rebuild fish populations and protect the habitats that make sustainable fishing possible. The way our boats fish, with lines, pots, and small nets, supports that. It's the reason the fish we sell is worth buying.

Healthy oceans and good fishing aren't in conflict. One depends on the other.

Brown crab from the waters off Portland Bill is as good as it gets in the UK. June is prime season. Ours comes straight from the local pots down in Weymouth, dressed and ready to go. Eat it cold with good bread and butter, or ask us about a simple bisque if you want something a bit more involved.
