Scott’s years of experience in professional kitchens really shine through. 👀 Look what’s back on the shelf… 👀

Brown Cow Organic Kefir has returned to Roots & Vines, and we know quite a few of you will be very happy to see it! 🐄🥛

There are two sorts of people when it comes to Brown Cow Kefir…

Those who already know just how lovely it is and have been waiting patiently for it to come back. Your wait is over! 🙌

Then there are those who have tried kefir before and decided it wasn’t for them. Perhaps it was too thin, too sharp or simply a little bit too “healthy tasting”. If that sounds familiar, we really think Brown Cow is worth q try.

Made in Somerset using organic whole milk from Brown Cow’s own grass-fed Guernsey cows, this is thick, creamy and spoonable — much more like a luxurious yoghurt than a traditional kefir drink.

🥄 Natural — rich, smooth and gently tangy, with no added sugar
🫚 Ginger — creamy and delicious with a lovely, gentle warmth

Both are fermented with live kefir and yoghurt cultures, certified organic and presented in recyclable, UK-made glass jars. They’ve also picked up some rather impressive Soil Association and Great Taste awards along the way. 🏆

British Victoria plums are in the shop from today, and they really are the best of the best — beautifully sweet, wonderfully juicy and bursting with proper late-summer flavour. 😋

Their reign is only a short one, so we’re expecting a very fruity few weeks ahead! 🧺

Thinking about ordering a takeaway this weekend? Take a little walk towards our freezer instead, because we’ve got something rather special waiting for you… 👀✨

Chef Akila’s award-winning curries, rice dishes and sides are cooked from scratch using traditional family recipes, freshly ground spices and proper slow-cooking methods. 🥘🌿

They’re packed with authentic flavour, fully cooked and ready to heat at home in under ten minutes — probably quicker than waiting for the takeaway to arrive! ⏱️😋

🍅 THE WAIT IS OVER! 🍅

Our heritage cherry tomatoes have landed — and oh, have they been worth waiting for.

On the vine yesterday, in the shop today. That's it. That's the whole journey. Grown just over the water in Calstock, right in the heart of the Tamar Valley — and you can taste it. Sweet, juicy little tomatoes, piled into open punnets, with that unmistakable smell of summer hitting you before you've even picked one up.
👌Fantastic flavour? You've got it.
👌Salads that actually sing? You've got it.
👌Food miles you can count on one hand? You've got it.

These are grown for flavour, not shelf life — honestly one of the very best treats of the summer. We'll have them for the next month or so, while the season lasts!

If you know, you know. And if you've never tried them? You simply won't believe how good a tomato can taste. ❤️

🫛And that's not all — we've also secured some of this grower's fantastic sweet, tender French beans, picked early this morning and on the shelf right now. Summer on a plate!
Pop in and grab a punnet while they're at their absolute best!!

🎉 WE’RE BACK OPEN! 🎉
After two long days of refurbishing, we reopened our doors this morning with brand-new refrigeration and a completely refreshed produce display. And you can see from the phot that Fergus is absolutely delighted with the results!
🥛It has been a real family effort, with everyone getting stuck in to move, clean, build, stock and prepare the shop. We hope you’ll love the changes as much as we do!
Our new fridges and freezers are already starting to fill up with a new range of vegan ice cream, alongside flavours from the ever-popular Taw River Dairy range. We’ve also received a delivery of fermented drinks, fresh milkshakes and iced coffee.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be adding even more, including:
🧺 Picnic favourites
🌭 Premium sausages, burgers and bacon
🧀 An extended range of cheeses
🍊 Fresh juices
🍝 Fresh pasta and sauces
🥘 Frozen ready meals
