This winter has been a very hard year for many honey bees up and down the country . We are hearing first hand of so many colony deaths probably due to the extremely wet and damp Autumn and Winter.. bees can handle cold but damp can be fatal.
Thankfully our Native British Honey Bees at the Burghley Estate in Stamford are adapted to the unusual weather patterns and have come through fantastically well.
They have already started brooding and the colonies are building up nicely. This frame shows wall to wall brood from one such colony .
All ready to take advantage of early season crops next as they come into flower.
There is a real advantage in having adapted stock and Native British Honey Bees are as adopted as they come.
At Bees and Co we only have AMM stock and rear our own to keep this line as pure as possible.
