I couldn’t tell you the offside rule unless it relates to a bowl of coleslaw and potato salad not being correctly aligned with the labels straight, I’ve never painted my face with a St George’s Cross and I only become vaguely patriotic if England make it close to the final. 🇬🇧⚽️

BUT…

Apparently England are playing tonight, and judging by the success of last week’s Longstraw sourdough, I’ve gone completely overboard and ordered THIRTY loaves. 🤣

Perfect for tearing, sharing and piling high with cheese, olives, charcuterie, chutneys, sausage rolls and all manner of picky bits while shouting at the telly about things you understand far better than I do.

Whether you’re a lifelong football fanatic or just there for the snacky snacks (my people 🥂), we’ve got your match-night grazing covered.

We’ve just taken delivery of fresh salad bags and kale from our friends at With The Wild in Roadwater – and when we say fresh, we mean it. These leaves were harvested this morning and are already here in the deli.

Grown locally using ecological farming methods, they’re packed with flavour, goodness and about as few food miles as you can get.

🥖 The sourdough drought is over! 🥖

After a bit of an absence, we’re delighted to say that proper artisan sourdough will be back on our shelves from Wednesday lunchtime 😎

We’re now sourcing our sourdough from the award winning Longstraw Bakery in Wiveliscombe, bringing you beautifully crafted loaves with a crisp crust, chewy texture and that wonderful flavour only a real sourdough can deliver.

Perfect for sandwiches, toast, cheeseboards or simply slathered in butter while it’s still fresh. (We’ve all done it! 😋)

As with all artisan bread, availability is limited, so if sourdough is your thing, don’t leave it too late.

🤎 Tiramisu - layers of coffee-soaked sponge, creamy mascarpone filling and a generous dusting of cocoa.

🌈 Homemade Fruit Trifle - proper old-school comfort with sponge, fruit, custard, cream and a cheerful sprinkle topping.

Deli Chef / Cook / General Food Assistant

The Old Bank Deli, Williton

We’re looking for a food-loving person to join our small, slightly quirky, okay majorly quirky, but friendly team at The Old Bank Deli.

This role could be part-time or full-time, and we’re happy to discuss hours to suit the right person.

What we’re looking for:

Experience in a commercial kitchen is important , but we’re far more interested in someone who:

• Has a genuine passion for good food
• Takes pride in what they make
• Enjoys working as part of a small team
• Is organised and reliable
• Is happy to help customers

The role

You’ll be involved in producing a wide range of homemade deli foods, it’s a physically demanding role, including making large quantities of:

• Quiches
• Scotch eggs
• Sausage rolls
• Salads
• Cakes and traybakes
• Seasonal specials

As a small business, everyone mucks in, so you’ll also be expected to help serve customers, replenish displays and support the shop team when required.

What makes this different?

• No evenings
• No Sundays
• No split shifts
• No late-night finishes
• Flexible hours for the right person
• Opportunity to be creative and have input
• Friendly, supportive working environment
• Small tea and your contribution matters

Working pattern

• Full-time or part-time considered
• Must be able to work every other Saturday
