AND FOR OUR NEXT ā€œMEET THE PRODUCERā€ POST, WE HAVE…

Hi folks I’m Carol Brown and I am Fabric creations by Carol!

I have always sewn and I was inspired to make my granddaughters something special when they were born so I designed my children’s reading cushions! These are my top selling item and really are a special gift encouraging children to read books!

I make many fabric gifts which are all very unique such as seasonal bunting, phone holders, tooth fairy cushions and lots of seasonal gifts!

I love attending markets and have made so many new crafting friends and have a lovely following of customers that I’m always happy to help them with special orders!

It’s lovely to see so many customers supporting our local businesses we do pour our hearts into our gifts and we value your custom!

AND FOR OUR NEXT ā€œMEET THE PRODUCERā€ POST, WE HAVE…

Shannon Devenney @ Linton Bakes. I sell lots of different bakes, cupcakes, traybakes, cookies, to bespoke celebration cakes

I started my buisness during lockdown when I lost my job as cabin crew, and here we are 5 years later still baking! I absolutely love seeing people's reactions to there cake, especially the wee ones! Makes all the hours worthwhile!

Our most popular traybake is our biscoff caramel slice and our emprie biscuits! Can never make enough of them, always the first to go!

I love the atmosphere of the markets and speaking to all the customers! Everyone is so supportive of each other's businesses and great to get a good chat, always a great day out!

It can be so difficult for small businesses these days with all the price increases and challenges we face daily! We put so much time and love into what we do everyday, so definitely try and support our small/local businesses where you can! As at the end of the day these are the businesses that try to help give back in many ways to the community, help support/donate to your charities and school events. So think twice before you quickly jump online to order!

OUR 'MEET THE PRODUCER' POSTS WILL BE COMING THICK AND FAST IN THE RUN UP TO THE FINAL MARKETS OF THE YEAR :)

FOR OUR NEXT ā€œMEET THE PRODUCERā€ POST, WE HAVE….

Christopher Low and Neil Adamson. We’re Timber Botanical Rum made by Broken Chimney Spirits. Timber Botanical Rum is an award-winning premium sipping Botanical Rum. Our rum is crafted in small batches to create a smooth and versatile spirit. It is fantastic on its own and goes very well with your favourite mixer or cocktail.

It all started during Covid, between 3 neighbours who (when allowed) sitting in the back garden decided we needed a project while stuck indoors. We had been on a rum tasting event in London prior and this got us hooked on the idea. We looked at doing a gin, until we spoke to the distillery and the idea of creating a smooth, sipping Scottish botanical rum came to us, as we were all rum lovers and there was no such thing on the market.

We love running our very own business, making a product we all love and sharing it with the world. Growing our customer base, especially with people who are new to rum and have only heard of spiced rums. It is great to see people who do not like regular rum, see the alternative we have produced and now they are botanical rum drinkers.

I love to meet potential customers, chat about our rum that we are so passionate about and seeing the look on people’s faces when they sample it as it is so unique. Especially when they tell us they do not like rum, until they try ours.

It is vital in this era, that we do all we can to support small businesses. These are business owners’ livelihoods and the passion they have for their products and all the hard work they do, it is so important to do all we can to support them.

AND FOR OUR NEXT ā€œMEET THE PRODUCERā€ POST, WE HAVE…

My name is Jane Gray, and my business is Jane Gray Design. I am a textile designer and maker, and I create unique fabric designs and homeware. My products, such as cushions, tea towels, tote bags, and prints, are all based on my own hand-drawn illustrations. I focus on bringing a little bit of the Scottish countryside and nature into the home.

I started my business, Jane Gray Design, in 2020 during the Coronavirus pandemic. With my university plans for internships put on hold, I wanted to keep my focus on textile design, whilst I was studying at Heriot-Watt University at the time. It began as a small passion project, a "wee business," and since I graduated in 2022, it has grown as I've expanded my product range and fully embraced being a designer and maker.

I love the freedom to be creative and work where I want, often with a sketchbook and a cuppa in the sunshine. My designs are inspired by the nature that surrounds me, and it's a joy to transform those observations into products that can bring comfort into people's homes.

I have a few star products that people love! My "Stop and Smell the Flowers" tote bags are a popular choice for their charming, nature-inspired design and everyday practicality. My unique lampshades are also a favourite, as they act as a statement piece of art that brings a warm glow to any room. Additionally, my Scottish Gin Tea Towels are a huge hit, thanks to their fun, illustrated tribute to some of Scotland’s favourite gins.

I enjoy connecting with people directly and sharing the story behind my work. Markets are a fantastic way to meet customers, other makers, and become part of a local community.

Supporting small businesses means you are investing directly in a person's creative passion and livelihood. It fosters a vibrant local community and ensures that unique, thoughtfully made products continue to be available. When you buy from a small business, you are getting an item made with care and a personal story behind it.
