🐦 Did you know? Autumn and winter are ideal times to put up a nest box.
Installing a nesting box between October and February gives garden birds time to spot it, investigate it and become familiar with it well before the spring breeding season begins. It can also provide a valuable, sheltered place for birds to roost on cold winter nights — somewhere dry and protected from the worst of the weather. Put one up now and you could be helping your garden visitors through the winter, while giving them a possible home for next spring. Many birds use nest boxes for winter roosting and may return to the same box to nest later in the year.
