We've just hit 700 followers ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Wow... where do we even start? The support for Rizzo Deli has honestly been overwhelming and weโ€™re so grateful to each and every one of you.

Thank you to everyone who supported us before launch, followed our journey, shared our posts and helped spread the word. Then to everyone who came through our doors once we officially opened, visited us over opening weekend, left lovely reviews and kind words - thank you. Opening weekend was amazing, and seeing people enjoying what we're creating has meant the world to us. As a small independent business, youโ€™re helping a little Italian manโ€™s dream come true - all 5ft 3" of him โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

Keep popping in because we have new products arriving all the time. Our deli is ever-evolving, ever-changing, and we're always looking for new and exciting things to bring in for you!

Weโ€™ve also got a few lovely things coming up over the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Hot weather usually means lighter foodโ€ฆ and this is exactly the time of year when proper Italian balsamic and grape condiments come into their own โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿฅ—

These beautiful bottles from Giuseppe Giusti of Modena aren't just 'vinegar' - the Giusti family has been producing balsamic since 1605, making them one of the oldest balsamic producers in the world. The medal labels you see are inspired by awards won at international exhibitions in the 1800s and represent different recipes and ageing styles.

And the pink bottle on the right? That's Saba - many people haven't heard of it, but it's one of Italy's oldest sweet condiments. Made from slowly cooked grape must, it was already being used in Roman times and is naturally rich, sweet and syrupy.

Summer serving ideas: ๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿ“ Drizzle balsamic over strawberries (if you've never tried it, trust me)
๐Ÿง€ Pair with Parmesan or soft cheeses
๐Ÿฅ— Lift a simple tomato and mozzarella salad
๐Ÿฆ Try Saba over yoghurt, gelato or fresh fruit instead of syrup or honey

Sometimes the simplest summer food really is the best food ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Product spotlight: Cherry tomatoes

Tiny, but a huge part of Italian cooking.

Sweet, juicy and perfect for salads, pasta dishes or piled high onto warm bruschetta with olive oil and fresh basil โค๏ธ

Fun fact: Italy grows hundreds of varieties of tomatoes, and some of the country's most famous tomatoes are grown in volcanic soil near Mount Vesuvius. Many Italians will tell you that the simpler the recipe, the better the tomatoes need to be! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Now for an important question...

Do you prefer your tomatoes cooked or raw? ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

This has just reminded us of a funny family story... my step-son and daughter (with a 14 year age gap between them!) both came out with exactly the same line at around six years old:

"I don't like tomatoes... but I like them in ketchup because the tomatoes are dead." ๐Ÿ˜‚

So where do you stand... cooked or raw (or dead)? ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ˜„
