Hi everyone 😀

Please could you all follow my new business The roundabout Workington.

We have just put up new menus and would really love to see some of our regulars again.

We are also on Foodhub and are open daily 9am - late

We have a bar area and plenty of seating in a luxury setting and currently running some great free competitions every night this week to win free vouchers.

Thank you for all your support at the deli and hopefully we can get some of the same support in our new adventure.

It’s hard putting this in to words but after 13 months of hard work, long hours, building a business that was absolutely at rock bottom we have had to close with immediate effect.

As many know when I took over we were faced with many difficulties that we were not aware off upon the sale of the business, the biggest issue by far was the electricity that was coming in at around 5k a quarter. For a business that was taking £100 a day this was a killer and with our break even point being £750 a day we lost thousands of pounds every month.

We were hounding the landlord about the extortionate rate of over 50p a unit which in comparison to average rates for commercial electric is 2.5x higher than anywhere else.

We were advised the contract was fixed until August 2025 and was told nothing could be done about it, it was hard to swallow but as we had grown the business so big so quick we were prepared to take small profits/break even knowing better times would come.

Now the interesting part, we decided to get food hub, in order to get it we needed a utility bill, as we never had one direct we asked landlord for one and he was reluctant to provide, after telling him it was a necessity his wife sent one over and to our shock he had exited the contract and still been charging us thousands of pounds on top. The guy was also charging everyone in the building individually for standing charges, climate charge, some commercial charge yet only paying it once. All payments were being charged with VAT and then being paid in to a personal bank account which again is against the law.

When I confronted him with this information he turned nasty threatening to look in to terminating our tenancy at the end of the month and he would not be renewing it anyhow if he couldn’t get us out sooner.

We have recordings of everything and documented conversations and messages stating everything I am saying is factual.

We would really like to thank all of the loyal customers that come in day in and day out and helped us grow as big as we did. Without you all we wouldn’t have lasted 3 months.

Thank you again and this is a goodbye for now not forever so keep on eye on the page as we will find a new venture and will be back serving some of the best customers in the world.

I’m off to cry again as already missing everyone and sorry to let everyone down.
