In Loving Memory of Michael ‘Micky’ Maskell.
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dad who left us peacefully on Sunday, 17th August. A devoted father, friend, and much-loved member of the community, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Born with a quick wit and a big heart, Micky spent his life doing what he loved. As a skilled butcher with a commitment for selling quality meat, he took immense pride in his work and cherished the friendships he built with his loyal customers over the years. Outside of the shop, his love for football shone through. A passionate player well into his fifties, he inspired others with his energy and commitment to the game.
He had a knack for lifting spirits with his famously bad “dad jokes,” his laughter often filling the room. Whether sharing a pint of shandy with friends, placing the occasional bet on the horses, or simply enjoying time with his family, Dad embraced life with warmth, humour, and kindness.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, 16th September at 2pm at Downs Crematorium, followed by a wake at Whitehawk Football Club, where we will gather to share memories, stories, and raise a glass in his honour.
Bring along your best (or worst) dad joke!
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty — to his family, friends, and community. He will be forever remembered with love and affection.
We will miss him forever 💔
