Maco Farms Growing food, growing wealth

Small wins on the farm feel like the biggest victories
Three days ago, the mother of the chicks started laying her eggs, and it’s been such an exciting moment for us. Even more amazing, the only surviving hen that was already laying has now finished and is already sitting on her eggs. Nature doing its thing right in front of us.
I’m truly grateful for the progress so far. Every egg feels like a reminder that the hard work is paying off. Looking forward to bringing in more hens soon and growing the flock step by step.
The journey continues… and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

Losing birds so suddenly has been a hard lesson. From 14 down to just 5, it’s been painful to watch, but thanks to the help of a local vet and treatment with antibiotics, some are still fighting and surviving. The mother and her chicks are still strong, and that gives me hope.
This journey is still a learning curve, and every loss teaches something new. We may have fallen, but we rise again — caring for the ones left and starting over with more knowledge, patience, and determination.

I always find joy whenever they are feeding 🥰

Today was a learning moment for me.

I let out my two chicks and six guinea fowls together with their mum for the first time after bringing them in earlier. I was excited to see them exploring and moving around confidently.
Unfortunately, when they returned, one of the guinea fowls was missing.
Still a learning curve in this journey. Every day teaches something new about raising poultry more vigilance, better timing, and improved supervision. We move, we learn, we grow.

Did you know you can add garlic (and a little onion) to your local birds’ drinking water?

Garlic helps boost immunity, improves digestion, supports respiratory health, and can even help reduce parasites. It’s a natural way to keep your birds strong and healthy.
Onions can also help fight bacteria, but they should be used in very small amounts because too much can affect the birds negatively.
As always, clean water, good feed, and proper care come first but a little natural boost now and then can go a long way!

Today is such an exciting day for us! 🥚✨

We received our very first egg from our local fowls!
It may look small to some, but to us it represents hard work, patience, early mornings, feeding, cleaning, and believing in the process. Seeing that egg in the coop brought so much joy and pride it’s proof that the effort is paying off.
This is just the beginning, and we’re so grateful and excited for what’s ahead!
Small beginnings, big dreams. 🐔❤️

Today has been a very painful day for me. 💔

My two and only guinea fowls were killed by dogs in the area. They weren’t just birds to me they were my little project, my daily routine, and something I was genuinely proud of raising.

We woke up this morning and our isolated keet is gone 😭😭

Saving the little one 🐣
Weak keet wasn’t eating, so I gave glucose water + mashed boiled egg and separated it from the others for few days
Small care can save a life…
