What is Farminista Africa?
Farminista Africa is a female-led limited liability agri-business, incorporated under the Companies’ Code of Ghana.
The current world population is expected to reach 8.5 billion by 2050. Africa is expected to account for more than half of this population growth. Total food demand will require an increase of global food production of about 70% by 2050.
Women grow more than 70% of food globally and are predominantly charged with family well-being in Sub-Saharan Africa.
In GHANA, these female farmers cultivate approximately a quarter to one hectare of farmland every planting season, earning them a maximum of $600 annually. The three main constraints that cause this are: access to arable land, capital to fund farm ventures, and lack of an accessible, ready market for their produce.
HOW?
We empower female smallholder farmers with Arable land, Capital, and a ready Market for Produce.
ARABLE LAND. CAPITAL. MARKET FOR PRODUCE.
LAND: We provide land to our farmers to enable them grow more crops. Currently, the total amount of land in all the four towns Farminista is present in is approximately 400 acres.
CAPITAL: Capital provided to farmers can be grouped into two forms: Hard and Soft capital. Our hard capital include but are not limited to Equipment, Seeds, Weedicides, Fertilizers, and Irrigation. Our soft capital is basically teaching farmers climate smart techniques for farming .
MARKET FOR PRODUCE: We give farmers the opportunity to sell their produce to a larger market by purchasing and processing their raw produce into semi-finished products. Our first product due to be launched in December 2019 is the Farminista Rice.
