Akwater is a start-up fish farm and its main business is to raise and sell catfish fingerlings and catfish grow-out (market size) on a commercial basis. It also sells catfish and tilapia feeds to other farmers. Akwater has a plan to venture into tilapia and other fish types in future. In future, the company has a plan of expanding into raising tilapia, and a fish processing services including dressed, packaged, frozen fresh fish, and smoked fish with the vision of becoming a leader in providing innovative and sustainable economic opportunities in aquaculture. While establishing a profitable and growing business entity, Akwater believes that impacting the economic and social life of community in which it operates is the way to create a farming business model which balances the triple bottom of people, environment and profit. The current and first farm site of the company is situated at Akotokyir near University of Cape-Coast. Currently, the company owns over 11 acres of land in Akotokyir and has on it catfish hatchery center, and 2 earthen ponds and 4 concrete tanks that can accommodate over 6,000 kilos of catfish. Akwater is searching for investment support to expand its infrastructure capacity base in Akotokyir farm in near future. The Akotokyir farm is within the target priority range of Central, Western and Greater Accra regions of Ghana.
