Since 1879, when Tetteh Quarshie brought cocoa from Fernando Po, now Equatorial Guinea to Ghana, the cultivation of the crop has brought life to our country's economy. As the world's second-highest producer, Ghana's economy is boosted by the several billions of United States dollars realised every year from the sale of cocoa beans.
In as much as we are working hard to increase production and rake in more foreign exchange for the country, there's the need for us to consume more cocoa. Cocoa offers significant health benefits, and incorporating it into our diets can contribute to overall well-being. Studies have shown that cocoa contains antioxidants and other beneficial compounds that contribute to these health advantages. Some studies show that it reduces blood pressure, fights stress, delays physical signs of ageing, prevents stroke or cardiovascular accidents by improving blood circulation, provides energy and vitality, boosts fertility in both sees, have aphrodisiac properties, and many more.
We, at MacGREEN FARMS LTD, encourage everyone reading this piece, to make cocoa a regular part of their diets and also to make sure members of our families include it in their diets on a daily basis (not just on chocolate days) for better health. This could include enjoying a warm cocoa beverage in the morning or incorporating into our baking and cooking.
Cocoa is food for the gods and after water, cocoa is the single healthiest substance you can put in your mouth. It can easily replace a number of psychiatric drugs for mood, plus it produces the same chemistry in the brain that occurs when we fall in love.
Let's eat chocolate, stay healthy and grow Ghana!
