BEE PRODUCTS
A great deal of archeological findings in Crete, depict the evolution of the bee-keeping in Minoan Crete and justify the extended use of bee products such as wax, propolis and honey, both for nutrition
and
healing
purposes.
Traditional bee wax-based cream/ointment
The ingredients used in this cream are pure bee wax, extra virgin olive oil, honey, propolis and essential oils of Sage and Dictamus. It has multiple usages such us moisturizing lips and body, relieving pain provoked by insects' bytes, relieving mild skin burnings and other skin irritations.
Tincture of propolis :30%
Propolis, is a compound word that derives its meaning from the Greek words "pro" and "polis", which translate as 'before the city'. The bees usually place propolis at the entrance of their hive in order to protect from any kind of invasion. It is said that a thin layer of propolis literally covers the entire hive in the interior and protects the colony from viruses and bacteria. The beehive is the most sterile environment in nature and this is due to propolis. The essence of its antibacterial action which is equivalent to antibiotics is based on the several flavonoids and concentrations of aromatic molecules, which are propoli's important components. Propolis has local anesthetic characteristics thanks to its essential oils. It heals wounds and helps to regenerate tissue in second-degree burns, eczema, etc. Furthermore Propolis is effective in maintaining the health of the oral cavity in the form of solution. It can also be used as a remedy for colds, sore throats, gastroenteritis and colitis. All types of propolis
have the capacity to activate the immune system.
PROPERTIES OF PROPOLIS:Antibacterial. Anitvirus. Antifungal, Healing action. Antiflamation.
Anesthetic action
Thyme Honey from Sitia
During summertime, July and August, at the extensively wild and uncultivated land of Sitia region, only Thyme blossoms. So bees harvest Thyme to produce a honey with a characteristically strong Thyme taste and aroma and high nutritional value.
Honey, which is the main product of the hive, was used traditionally for its nutritional, medicinal and spiritual properties.
Honey has a variety of therapeutic effects in all human body systems: immune, respiratory and
digestive one. It can also heal the skin from normal, infected wounds or burn.
Respect and love for nature...
The greater contribution of honey bees in nature is the pollination of plants. Bees fertilize 80% of the plants we eat. Unfortunately, pesticides kill bees as well, and if the honey bees disappear we only have four years of life on Earth, as A. Einstein said.
By supporting biological natural products, we support nature's cycle and our own survival.
