Ballyjamesduff Country Market

Ballyjamesduff Country Market Proudly supported by Teach Solais Community Development and Ballyjamesduff Community Council

Fairs and markets once used to be a prevalent feature of many Irish towns and cities, and Ballyjamesduff was no different. The Market House was built in 1813, and its primary function was to operate as an exchange centre for the surrounding rural area and a hub for social interaction. The popularity of local country markets fell in Ireland due to the drastic decline of production and purchasing po

wer during the great famine. However, today the tradition of local country markets is being steadily re-established. In recent years, customers pay increasing attention to what we buy and where it comes from. Locally grown food tends to be of higher quality, and local crafts and art allow us to celebrate our unique culture. In light of COVID-19, we want to introduce a safe, socially spacious and ventilated event for Ballyjamesduff residents to come together and support one another throughout this pandemic.

🎄 Santa is coming to Market House Square this evening 🎅

A couple of our local vendors will have a small selection of locally made items available, and we’ll also be joined by Sushi-Mania Kitchen, serving up tasty food and taking orders for Christmas Eve 🍣✨

Come along, say hello to Santa, and enjoy a bit of Christmas cheer in the square 🎄🎁

🎄 A very special visitor is coming to town! 🎄

Santa will be at Market House Square, Ballyjamesduff, tomorrow at 5pm for a festive meet & greet, and as usual, in true BJD style, he’s arriving by tractor 🚜🎅

Wrap up warm and come join the Christmas magic!✨
