Dug out the rogue potatoes with the children today. There was a lot of them. It was great fun and we sang ‘rock the boat’ , Found and washed some buried treasure (new potatoes!) Then we rescued a baby oak seedling, planted it carefully and gave it plenty of water. Lit a responsible fire to melt the chocolate to dip the homegrown strawberries in and stopped to taste a starflower on the way back home. It was a great day!

The day began with a red squirrel bounding over the tree tops. Then we went down to the field by the river to plant some plugs of wildflowers from farm saved seeds, one little girl stopped to hang out with the buttercups as they are gorgeous. Before leaving we saw lots of tiny froglets on the ground migrating into the meadow. Tiny and perfect!

It is not ok for anyone to break the tops off the trees in our field down by Ballyhubbock bridge. It is not ok to light a fire to burn your rubbish. It is not ok to break bottles and leave them on the ground.
The trees were planted to provide shade for the community who swim in the river, bring their dogs for a swim and enjoy picnics.
Thank you to the neighbours who removed the broken glass on Sunday. Please let us know if you spot any signs of vandalism down by the river.

Taking a moment to stop, rest and look before planting pak choy and kohlrabi last Friday. There’s so much to learn from the natural curiosity and intelligence in children.

Tender leafed curly and black kale is back in the farm shop for the season! They are the ultimate greens for this time of year. These are growing in a polytunnel and the leaves are delightfully soft and cook in less than a minute. Gorgeous in salads too!
