On RTE Radio1’s Claire Byrne Show, Claire challenged the RTE Business Journalist Adam Maguire to make a Swiss Roll. Adam has a reputation for being a good amateur baker.👨🍳

Background to this Challenge: The Central Statistic Office (CSO) has recently removed our beloved Swiss Roll from the Consumer Price Index. This received a light-hearted backlash with some commentators challenging the decision and highlighting the nostalgic value and popularity of the product.
Lucan Central Bakery () & Odlums Ireland () joined hands with RTE Radio 1’s Adam Maguire to showcase various flavours of Swiss Rolls that are popular in Ireland and some are made in SuperValu Lucan Bakery. Swiss Rolls can never go extinct! They are still very popular and greatly loved by all.
So this calls for campaign ‘SOS’ 🆘- ‘Save our Swiss Rolls’ and it didn’t take long for Adam and Tony Kane, President of the Irish Bakery Association and a Bakery Specialist at to roll up more than their sleeves and make fresh from scratch raspberry flavoured Swiss roll at ! 👨🍳✨
The results! Well.. after a lot of mess with the two eagerly prepping the sponge, spreading fresh raspberry jam, they rolled up one impressive Swiss Roll.
Verdict: After tasting a few today, well a good few! we strongly feel CSO has got it all wrong! Adam we hope you win the challenge posed by Claire but also impresses the RTE Radio 1 team with your baking skills🙌.
