Please note that Kieran’s Family Butcher will be closed this Friday as we gather to pay our final respects, celebrate his remarkable life, and mourn the passing of our dear friend, family member, and a true pillar of the local trade, Ted Kieran.

Funeral Details:
Repose: Ted will repose at McGeough’s Funeral Home, Jocelyn Street (A91 XW66), on Thursday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Removal & Mass: Removal will take place on Friday morning from his home to St. Oliver Plunkett Church, Blackrock (A91 DD56), arriving for Funeral Liturgy at 12:00 noon.

Burial: Burial will follow afterwards in St. Fursey’s Cemetery, Haggardstown (A91 XH75).

We remain open as normal bar Friday. Thank you so much for your understanding, kindness, and support during this difficult time.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we mark the passing of Ted Kieran.

Ted was a true pillar of the local butcher trade in Dundalk, dedicating his entire life to the craft, his family, and the community. Having stepped up to help lead the family business at just 15 years old alongside his late mother May, Ted poured decades of hard work, integrity, and respect into the trade, leaving a lasting mark on generations of customers and butchers alike.

For us here at Kieran’s Family Butcher, his passing is especially personal. Ted was a beloved father, grandfather, and a guiding family presence to many of our own team members and family, including his grandchildren who carry forward his deep-rooted work ethic and love for the trade. His guidance, warmth, and lifelong dedication meant the world to us both inside and outside the family.

Beyond the shop floor, Ted was a true gentleman, deeply devoted to his family, and a lifelong, passionate supporter of Dundalk FC. Our thoughts, love, and deepest sympathies go out to his extended family, relatives, and all who knew and loved him at this difficult time.

May He Rest In Peace.

It’s more than just a sharp knife. 🥩

People often ask what it takes to be a good butcher. From the outside, it looks like skill with a blade and it is. But behind every clean cut, every evenly tied joint of meat, and every full counter is a whole lot of sheer graft.

It takes early mornings, cold rooms, heavy lifting, and steady hands that don’t waver when the Friday rush hits. It’s physical work that demands respect for the craft, patience, and years of practice to get it right.

There are no shortcuts to doing this job properly. But when you see a counter packed with the finest local produce and know you’ve done it right, every bit of the heavy lifting is worth it.

Here’s to the trade, the graft, and doing things the honest way.
