Silage 2026 is a go go here . Making our winter fodder for our cattle ๐Ÿฎ ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฎto supply our customers with our home ๐Ÿ  reared beef. Now we canโ€™t get much closer than that. Our beef is produced just 7 miles from our shop. .

SOOOO after a long winter we finally have all the cattle out to grass. And so begins the task of cleaning out all the sheds. As all our cattle are straw bedded we produce a lot of farm yard manure or FYM for short. This is a combination of straw and all the waste that the cattle produced themselves over the winter ( I donโ€™t think I need explain that more) ๐Ÿ˜ . We find that FYM is a much better nutrient for the soil and for all the little critters that live in the soil than say slurry. We spread this on our land twice a year which helps us produce the silage we make which feeds our cattle that produce our lovely beef. So it all goes full circle every year and helps with our attempts to more more sustainable and kinder to the environment

๐Ÿท๐Ÿท๐Ÿท No 1 tip on cooking pork chops, donโ€™t put it on a really hot pan or really hot oven. Medium heat to start off with and then finish it on a high heat to crisp it up. Pork is a fantastic meat that is a very cost efficient alternative especially for mid week. All our pork is Irish,so why not give it a try
