There are so many benefits to taking time for yourself, and it can have a really positive impact on mental clarity, relationships, energy levels, and even physical health. ✨

Taking time for yourself doesn’t have to mean a whole spa day (although that’s nice too 😉)…it can be something simple like:
• a walk without your phone
• coffee alone in the morning
• reading before bed
• exercise
• gardening
• sitting quietly for 20 minutes
• taking a solo trip
• or even just an hour away from the noise

If you never recharge, eventually everything starts running on low battery. This is your sign. 🤍

And while you’re taking that moment for yourself, Dr Coy’s nutritional chocolate can help provide sustained energy with no sugar crashes — supporting mental focus too. 🍫

We recently received a customer query about Dr. Coy’s Chocolate bars on the Yuka app and we’d like to share our response.

When you scan a Dr. Coy’s bar on Yuka, it may not score as highly as expected and here’s why.

Yuka is a useful tool, but it largely assesses products based on total sugar content, without distinguishing between different types of sugars or how they’re metabolised in the body.

The innovation behind Dr. Coy’s Chocolate bars is that we’ve replaced regular sugar with a low glycaemic alternative, giving our bars a Glycaemic Index of just 28. This means sustained energy without the sharp spikes and crashes associated with refined sugar.

What Yuka cannot measure is how those sugars behave once consumed. Dr. Coy’s bars use carefully selected sugars that are designed to provide sustained energy, without the sharp spikes and crashes associated with refined sugars. The app cannot measure your blood sugar response nor can it recognise that the sugars that we use are tooth-friendly, as they are not broken down in the mouth but further along in the digestive system.

We’re proud to be the first chocolate manufacturer to include galactose in chocolate - part of what makes our product patented and truly functional.

Functional chocolate goes beyond what an algorithm can score. 🍫
As good for you as it tastes😋

Shops are filled with lovely colourful pumpkins at the moment. So why not make this easy comforting and delicious Pumpkin Soup between all the pumpkin carving!
You can use butternut squash instead if you prefer.

Dr. Coy’s Easy Pumpkin Soup:

• Preheat your oven to 180°C
• Cut 1 small to medium pumpkin (or a butternut squash) into wedges and scoop out the seeds. Place it on a large baking tray.
• Cut 1 large red onion into eighths and add to the tray.
• Cut 10-12mini peppers (or 2 red bell peppers) in half, remove seeds, and add to the tray.
• Drizzle with olive oil and season with 2 teaspoons of Organic Vegetable Bouillon.
• Slice the top off a garlic bulb, drizzle with 1 tbsp olive oil, wrap in foil or parchment, and add to the tray.
• Roast for 30-40 minutes or until pumpkin is soft.
• Make vegetable stock by stirring 2 teaspoons of Organic Vegetable Bouillon into 1 litre of hot water.
• When ready, scoop the pumpkin flesh away from the skin, then toss it in a blender with the roasted onion and peppers. Squeeze out the garlic from the bulb and add that in too. Add in the stock and blend until smooth. You may need to do this in batches. Serve with a drizzle of cream, fresh parsley and freshly ground black pepper.
For an extra kick add some chilli flakes.
Enjoy with a hot cheese toastie!

And don't forget - pumpkins aren't just for Halloween!
They are nutritious and delicious all year round 😋

🍏It’s time for BlackBerry & Apple Pie 🥧
With the recent fine summer we’ve been able to collect a load of gorgeous blackberries in the last week - there’s still some left though! This is so delicious and so satisfying to make after collecting all the juicy blackberries.
🍏 Apple & Blackberry Pie (with Dr Coy’s Stevia)

Ingredients

For the filling
- 5 medium apples (Bramley or Granny Smith for tartness, peeled, cored & sliced)
- 200g fresh blackberries
- 2–3 tbsp Dr Coy’s Stevia (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp lemon juice and 1 tsp of lemon zest
- 1 tbsp plain flour (to thicken juices)

For the pastry
• 250g plain flour
• 125g cold butter (cubed)
• 2–3 tbsp cold water
• 2 tbsp Dr Coy’s Stevia

Optional topping
- 1 egg, beaten (for glazing)
- A sprinkle of ground almonds or oats (adds crunch)

⸻

Method
1. Make the pastry
Rub the flour, stevia, and butter together until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Add cold water gradually and bring it into a dough.
Wrap in cling film and chill for 30 mins or longer!
2. Prepare the filling
In a bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, flour, and stevia.
Fold in blackberries gently.
3. Assemble the pie
Preheat oven to 180°C (fan 160°C).
Roll out half the pastry and line a 20–23cm pie dish.
Spoon in the apple-blackberry mixture.
Roll out the remaining pastry and place on top. Seal edges with a fork.
Cut a few small slits in the centre to let steam escape.
4. Bake
Brush with beaten egg.
Bake for 40–45 minutes, until golden brown and bubbling at the edges.
5. Serve
Best enjoyed warm with Greek yoghurt, cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream (sugar-free if you like).
