Global bird population, both individual species and overall numbers are in catastrophic decline due to climate change, pollution, habitat loss and the loss of food sources (insects).

The latter two, habitat loss and loss of food sources are directly linked to large scale intensive agriculture.

Research has consistently shown that organic farming is better for birds. Organic farms may have up to 25% more bird life and 30% more species diversity than conventional farms.

In a beautiful symbiosis, birds eat a tremendous amount of insects and are one of nature's best mechanisms for keeping insect populations, many of which are pests to agriculture, in balance.

Organic farming is the pursuit of balance. Nature is our partner, not our adversary. Something to work with not dominate and suppress.

Days are slowing down here as autumn rolls in. Yesterday we cracked open the wood pile, old off cuts and left overs from previous projects, to get some new bird houses up. We're all the better for it πŸ¦πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦‰

Regrettably as of today we are increasing the delivery charge on all our boxes to reflect the rising cost of fuel and related price inflation. We don't come to these decisions lightly. This won't contribute one red cent to our take home profits at the end of the year, it'll just about keep us level in this very challenging environment.

This current fuel crisis is a direct result of the war of choice started by Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu against Iran. With the context of struggling small businesses and families throughout Ireland it was particularly upsetting to see Irish political and business elites fawning over the US president this weekend. We don't welcome war criminals, racists, misogynists or wannabe fascists to our country.

We stand for democracy, the rule of law and common decency. Prosperity and ethics can co exist. It's not one or the other.

Thanks to all those who continue to support our business and believe in what we do. As we've said before, you can't change the world, you can only change your world.

Here's a shot of us from 2013. I'm in blue, under pressure and struggling to understand how this 16 year old kid from Banteer was riding at 65kph on a flat road in Kerry πŸ™ˆ

We've started harvesting these marvelous Crown Prince Squash πŸ™Œ

These aren't watery cucumbers or a flimsy salad, this is proper grub! Each one is over 3kg , and you can eat basically all of it (yes, including the skin) . They are packed with complex carbohydrates, fiber, nutrients and those natural sugars which make them delicious πŸ˜‹

My favorite thing to do is roast slices of squash in the oven until sticky and caramelized then add to a tasty curry. They also make exceptional soup.

In my agrarian dreams I see a countryside filled with exactly this type of food. They're easy to grow outside in Ireland, they thrive in ground enriched with compost so you need no imported fossil fuel fertilizer, they've no pests so toxic insecticides aren't an issue, once harvested they last months, and they are extremely nutritious.

Local food, grown in the community, to feed the community. That's what we're about.

If you want to support us you can order today via the link below. Thanks
