Calling all businesses in the wicklow town area,

We’re collecting small donations towards flowers for the Tidy Towns.
You can give any amount you like — €10, €20, or whatever suits your budget. There’s absolutely no obligation.
The form is available in Blooming Plants on the Main Street. If you’re already calling in to Peter for flowers or plants, you can simply leave a donation towards the Tidy Towns while you’re there as well.
All money raised will be spent locally in Blooming Plants, with the Tidy Towns committee choosing plants for the flower beds around the town.
It’s a lovely way to support local business, brighten up the town, and help Tidy Towns at the same time.
We’ll also soon be collecting email addresses from anyone who would like to stay informed. This will allow us to share the minutes of the Wicklow Town Business Group meetings, along with updates and information on what’s happening locally, helping to keep everybody in the community up to date.

🥔 Battle of the Potatoes 🇮🇪 vs 🇯🇪 🥔

Right… we might be asking for trouble here 😅

We’ve managed to get our hands on some of the famous Jersey Royals – straight from the Channel Islands – and we couldn’t resist putting them head-to-head with our own Irish new season potatoes.

Now, we’ve always been curious about these Jersey Royals. You see them all over fruit & veg shops in England, Scotland, and up North… and people absolutely rave about them. So we said, go on – let’s see what the fuss is about 👀

A bit of background…Jersey Royals have been grown on the island of Jersey for over 140 years, after a farmer accidentally discovered a unique variety back in the late 1800s. They’re known for their thin skins, waxy texture, and that slightly nutty, buttery flavour.

They’re also a bit special because they can only be grown in Jersey – thanks to the island’s mild climate, seaweed-rich soil, and steep coastal fields (which are so steep they’re often harvested by hand!).

So… the big question is:👉 Can they beat a proper Irish new season spud?

We’re putting them to the test – same pot, same butter, same treatment. No bias (well… we’ll try 😏).
