💙💛 A HUGE THANK YOU! 💛💙
We just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who bought one of our Wicklow Tailteann Cup badges. We sold over 200 badges, and the support we received was absolutely brilliant.
Together, we raised an amazing €1,090, which we're absolutely delighted with. The money will be going towards Wicklow Cancer Support in Wicklow Town, and we'll be passing it on over the next few days.
A very special thank you to Paul Murphy . Without Paul, . He was a huge part of getting the badges made and making the whole thing happen, and we genuinely couldn't have done it without him. ❤️
Now, being a Dublin man,(living in wicklow most his life) we're beginning to wonder if Paul might actually be a secret Wicklow supporter after all! 😂 Maybe this was his way of making up for that narrow Dublin win over Wicklow in Aughrim!
We'll let him off this time — but we're keeping a close eye on him! 👀😂
Wicklow are coming for the Dubs next year! 💙💛

🥒 ANOTHER LITTLE PIECE OF HISTORY FOUND! 🥒
The builders are after finding another old bottle, and this one is a real cracker!
It's an old Crosse & Blackwell Mixed Pickles bottle, complete with the original cork still in place — and believe it or not, there's still one pickle left inside, along with the old spices! 😲
The label tells us it was made by Crosse & Blackwell of London, one of Britain's best-known food companies, famous for their pickles, sauces and preserves.
The wording “Purveyors to His Majesty the King” on the label gives us a fascinating clue to its age. From the style of the label and wording, it could date from the early 1900s — potentially the reign of Edward VII (1901–1910) or George V (1910–1936).
Imagine buying your jar of mixed pickles over 100 years ago, finishing your dinner, popping the cork back in... and somehow one little pickle survives all these years! 😂🥒

A Little Piece of Wicklow History Found Under the Floorboards
You never know what you’re going to find when a bit of building work starts!
This old John Jameson & Son Dublin Wh***ey bottle was found under the floorboards in the house next door, which was once part of the old Green Tree Hotel here in Wicklow Town.
The lads doing a bit of building work came across it, and one of the builders very kindly gifted it to us. We’re absolutely delighted with it — we love finding little pieces of the history of the shop and the town. ❤️
The bottle carries the name Thomas Kavanagh, Green Tree, Wicklow, so it has a brilliant local connection. From the style of the bottle and label, it appears to date back to around the early 1900s.

Since our last post about honey caused a fair bit of controversy, we thought we’d keep it simple and let you make your own choice.
We’ve put up the three jars of honey we currently have in the shop.
Some supermarket honeys are blends containing honey from several different countries, including non-EU countries. There has also been a lot of discussion and investigation worldwide into honey adulteration and how honey can be blended or mixed with other sweeteners. The EU has carried out its own investigations into this as well.
There’s a very interesting programme on Netflix called Rotten, which looks at the honey industry and some of the issues surrounding honey production and fraud.
At the end of the day, we’re not here to tell anyone what’s good or bad. Do your own research, read the labels and make your own choice.
What we can tell you is that we have some absolutely lovely 100% Wicklow honey in the shop, supplied by three renowned local beekeepers. 🐝🍯
