A Government of India monitoring report for 2014–15 found residues of non-approved pesticides in 12.5% of 20,618 food samples tested. Pesticide residues were detected in 18.7% overall, while 2.6% exceeded the prescribed Maximum Residue Limit (MRL).

The point isn’t that every conventionally grown vegetable is unsafe.
