We made all this today at our Panaiyur production kitchen. These will be packed in retort today. Will be lab tested for nutrition and shelf life. We have been working on this for the last few months.

Both our cooks are busy today with yet another trial for retort packing. This time we are trying out vathakuzhambu rice, biryani ( veg of course, need I even say that?!), masala kichdi, bisibelebath, bhuna masala, sambar rice and a one more experiment ! Stay tuned !

So we had breakfast out. I would have cooked, but we needed my cylinder for the trails at panaiyur. Cylinder shortage is stil a thing. We haven’t managed to get replacements. Running on all kinds of jugaad.

Anyways, so I went to Muttram on ECR. Been meaning to stop by and check it out for a long time. The first thing that struck me was the gorgeous, gorgeous decor. What stunning wood sculptures. The horse and the Rishabham outdoors have my heart and more ! The indoors is very very aesthetically done up too. I would go sit there just for that. Kayal, kudos to you ! I hope you don’t miss this post.

So I ordered benne dosa, dosa praandhi that I am. Wasn’t heavy. So I wanted to try the thooyamalli dosai. Finished that too. Very homely food. Chutney, sambar and coffee were good too. Coffee was perfect actually. So if you are in ECR, don’t miss a coffee at Muttram. And drool away at the decor !

Been making too much pineapple rasam lately. At vdky, M Anna gave me a ripe one to take home. So half we ate, half was made into rasam. I could just sit and drink pine apple rasam with some Veppilaikatti added.

Menu today was pumpkin Kuzhambu with vathakuzhambu Podi, pineapple rasam, raw papaya salad & koorkkai upperi. Got the koorkkai from Vdky too. Papaya is from home as well. All in all, a very satisfying meal.

For lunch, I have packed some boiled peanut chaat.

Still at home. Must get going. Busy couple of days ahead.

Vadakkencherry to Chennai.

Left at 5.15 am. 7 am Avinashi, the usual stop at the very conveniently located Anna Poorna. Seemed like all of the locals were there for Akshaya tritiya 😃, met by chance 3 of my followers / clients too - imagine ! My daughter was quite thrilled 😅!

For a change, I ordered poori. Then my dosai weakness too set in, ordered that too, but the maavu had pulikkaled. So didn’t finish it. A cup of coffee and I was all set.

Btw, Annapoorna coming up in erode too ! I saw a board! Yaay !

Stopped at Ibaco before Ulundurpet ( forgot the name of the place). I don’t eat ice creams much. But it’s nice to eat a scoop occasionally in this heat. I eat only vanilla ! Who else is team vanilla here ? Or comment your favourite flavour.

Reached Chennai by 2.15 I think. Thar Roxx is a breeze to drive. Smoothest steering in Indian engineering, I dare say.

Vdky food is very mild. After a week of that, I needed some kickass flavours. Hot rice and gongura thokku for lunch and a biryani for dinner.

And sometime on my balcony, enjoying the evening sky. No sea breeze though !
