Dhodpatre Rasam
This is called Mexican mint in English which is a medicinal herb having soft and thick leaves. It has an oregano-like flavor and odor. This herb is familiar with the name "Doddapatre" or "Sambrani" or "Sambarballi" in the Kannada language (Karnataka, India). I don't know if this grows anyway any other place in India and with what name it may be called. Anybody knows please comment below.
It grows quickly, requires little water, and can grow in any type of weather condition. You simply stick in the soil and within no time you see this herb growing everywhere. Its flavor and smell are so strong that very few leaves are enough to make recipes. Also, its medicinal value is such that it dissolves thick mucus formed in your nasal and lung cavities. Hence This is good during cold, cough, and fever.
During the summer season sometimes there are unexpected rains or dust which give rise to a lot of bacterias in the air which causes a sudden cough or cold. Drinking this rasam as a soup will help in this period.
