Important for advertisers of Food and Health products

As per latest advisory issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcast, companies offering products and services in food and health categories will have to furnish SDCs (Self declaration Certificates) annually on Broadcast Seva and Press Council of India (PCI) portals.

“In light of the directions of the Supreme Court of India and in supersession of previous advisories dated 03.06.2024 and 05.06.2024, advertisers and advertising agencies issuing advertisements for products and services related to the food and health sectors are advised to upload an annual self-declaration certificate"

Earlier there was lot of confusion around in entire advertisement industry but with this clarification it is not clear that this is restricted to only Food and health related products.

Red Rice

Origin:
It was first cultivated in China. But now it is available in numerous verities across the globe and is often served as a main dish. It is also known as Asian Rice or Oryza Sativa. It can be long medium or short. It is also known as Rakthashali in Ayurveda.

It is good for all 3 dosha Vitta, Pitta and Kapha. It is usually eaten unpolished or partially polished. It has nutty flavor and generally sweet in eating.

Parboiled Rice

What is Parboiled Rice?
These are converted or partially boiled rice. These are light yellow in colour. We can put them somewhere between Brown Rice and White Rice. Although they are expensive as compared to normal white rice due to processing.

How are they processed?

Parboiled rice passed through following processing.
a) Soaking
b) Steaming
c) Drying
As a result, all the nutrients from the husk are absorbed into the grain before it is removed. It also increases the shelf life and protect from insects. It became firm and less sticky as well.

Black Rice

Black Rice is also known as Forbidden Rice, Purple Rice or Emperor's rice. Originally it was reserved food for Emperor in ancient China that's why it is called forbidden rice. It is range of rice that belongs to Oryza Sativa species. It has purple color due to its anthocyanin content which is also found in Eggplant, blueberries and purple corn. It has mild and nutty flavour with chewy texture.

Where is it found?
Black rice is found in Assam, Orrisa, Manipur and West Bengal in India. Manipur is highest producer of Black Rice in India. India also exports Black Rice to USA and other countries. China, Bangladesh and Thailand are also major producer of Black Rice.

It contains a lot of fiber, Protein and Iron. It is sugar free and glutton free. It contains over 23 type of antioxidants and has highest antioxidant activity of all rice varieties. It contains high amount of flavonoid phytonutrients.
