The story of the Hass avocado began with Rudolph Hass, a California postman, in the 1920s. He planted three avocado seeds in 1926, and one grew into a tree producing fruit with a distinct, nutty taste and thick, bumpy skin. The tree was patented in 1935, and the Hass avocado’s superior qualities made it the world’s most popular commercial variety.🥑
