About Us
The company is presently being run by the sixth generation of the Jaggi’s family. The origin of the present business dates back to 1850 in Rawalpindi (now in Pakistan).
Their forefathers (of the Jaggi family) formed a trading firm under the name and style of ‘Chanda Singh Hari Singh’ in the year 1850 in Rawalpindi. The firm specialised in trading of Hill Fruits (Fresh and Dry) and Walnuts from Kashmir. The firm carried out its business in Rawalpindi, from 1850 to 1947.
Late Shri Raja Shah Jaggi’s son Late Shri Mela Ram Jaggi shifted to Delhi, India, soon after 1947 in the aftermath of India’s partition.
In 1949, Shri Mela Ram Jaggi and his sons opened a firm under the name style ‘Mela Ram Jaggi & Sons’ which carried on fruit trade particularly Apples and Walnuts and other dry fruits from Kashmir. In 1953 the firm expanded its business operations to Himachal Pradesh which was emerging as a new fruit growing region. It proved beneficial to the firm and the firm dominated the fruit trade in northern India and marketed nearly 15 % of the apple produce / market of India at that time which continued till 1995. In 2005, the sixth generation represented by Abhinav Jaggi stepped in and set new Goals for their Business expansion. Mr. Abhinav Jaggi under the guidance of his father and grandfather wants to start new projects particularly in cold chains and stores with greater zeal and zest.
