21 दिसंबर : श्री गुरु गोविंद सिंह ने परिवार सहित श्री आनंद पुर साहिब का किला छोड़ा।

सिख समुदाय के लोग दिसंबर माह के सात दिन भुला नहीं पाते। 21 से 27 दिसंबर तक वे कोई शुभ काम नहीं करते। ये वो दिन थे, जिनमें सिखों के दसवें गुरु गोविंद सिंह का परिवार शहीद हुआ था। गुरुजी ने इन दिनों में ही चार बेटे और पत्नी को खोया था।

21 दिसंबर 1704 को सिरसा नदी के किनारे चमकौर नामक जगह पर सिखों और मुगलों के बीच एक ऐतिहासिक युद्ध लड़ा गया, जो चमकौर के युद्ध के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुआ। सिखों के दसवें गुरु गोविंद सिंह के नेतृत्व में 40 सिखों का सामना वजीर खान के नेतृत्व वाले 10 लाख मुगल सैनिकों से हुआ था। वजीर खान किसी भी सूरत में गुरु गोविंद सिंह को जिंदा या मुर्दा पकड़ना चाहता था। क्योंकि, औरंगजेब की लाख कोशिशों के बावजूद गुरु गोविंद सिंह मुगलों की अधीनता स्वीकार नहीं कर रहे थे। गुरु गोविंद सिंह के दो बेटे अजीत सिंह और जुझार सिंह सहित 40 सिखों ने अपनी जान पर खेलकर वजीर खान के मंसूबों को कामयाब नहीं होने दिया। 10 लाख मुगल सैनिक भी गुरु गोविंद सिंह को नहीं पकड़ पाए। यह युद्ध इतिहास में सिखों की वीरता और उनकी अपने धर्म के प्रति आस्था के लिए जाना जाता है ।

Gurdwara Reetha Sahib | A Small Trip
Gurdwara Reetha Sahib is only 60 kms. by flying distance north of Nanak Mata, but the distance by motorable road is 209 kms. It is 166 kms from Tanakpur, the last railway station on Bareilly-Tanakpur section. Here, too, Guru Nanak Dev had an encounter with Nath yogis whom he tried to bring to the path of active humanitarian service along with remembrance of God’s Name. The story is not mentioned in the Janamsakhis, but locally a strong tradition has grown that Guru Nanak Dev miraculously made the normally bitter fruit of a soapnut tree sweet for Bhai Mardana to feed on.
