Our shop, Shree Jalaram Farsan Mart, was started on 4th May 1967, on a very small scall but high aspirations by Late Mr. Manilal Thakkar who worked hard to get his shop a good name in the city. And as he could see his shop growing bigger, he decided to make the menu a lil bigger, too, and a few more things were made available at the shop. And the best of them was Jalebi Fafda for which, experts we
re called specially from Gujarat. And finally, all this hard work started paying off and the shop started getting famous. Then a snack was first started at our shop that left the people in Kalyan Crazy, our famous "farali pattice". As a matter of fact, people started fasting so they could enjoy this delicious snack. All this helped in getting the shop famous and as it grew famous, the number of experiments in our kitchen had to increase and that led to another delicious dish. "Kacchi Kanda Samosa" which again had become popular in the city. And as the time was passing by, the Shop was taken over by the second generation Late Mr. He worked hard and took the shop to new heights. He had his son Mr. Navin Thakkar to support him. The father-son duo worked day and night to get the shop to be recognized as one of the best shops in the city. By this time, the shop had started getting famous in neighboring cities and people would come from there to buy snacks from our shop. Then, the passing of Mr. Kantilal Thakkar got Mr. Punit Thakkar, his grandson into the shop. Being a young mind, he was keen to do something new, something innovative. So, with the help and support of his father, Mr. Navin Thakkar, the shop started selling sweets too. Which, too, was loved and appreciated by everyone. None of them have ever studied history, but the history of Kalyan City can never be complete without these four men from four different generations who greatly contributed to the food culture of Kalyan City.
