A seed carries more than food.
It carries memory, adaptation, and generations of farming wisdom.

For generations, indigenous farming communities cultivated crops that belonged to their land, climate, and seasons. Plants that grew with resilience, diversity, and balance rather than chemical dependence.

This International Day of Plant Health, we reflect on how true plant health is deeply connected to biodiversity, traditional knowledge, and the farmers who continue to protect native varieties from disappearing.

Because the future of food depends on remembering what the land already knew.

The final switch in the One Fair Switch campaign takes us back to something that existed long before wellness became an industry.

Butterfly pea flower has been part of traditional food, herbal tea, and everyday practices across South and Southeast Asia for generations. Brewed into calming moments of pause and wellness, valued for its natural colour and properties, it was never created as a trend. It was always part of a way of life closely connected to nature and community knowledge.

Today, many natural ingredients are repackaged and commercialised until they lose their connection to where they came from. The conversation shifts towards industries and markets, while the traditions and people behind them slowly disappear from view.

At Elements Fair Organic, we wanted to bring the focus back to the source. Herbal tea from butterfly pea flower, not as a “supplement,” but as a traditional botanical ingredient that naturally belongs in everyday rituals.

Naturally vibrant in colour. Naturally rich in antioxidants. No unnecessary processing. No shortcuts.

Like every product featured in the One Fair Switch campaign, this too is about looking beyond what we consume and understanding the systems behind it. Fair Trade is not only about the final product. It is about protecting biodiversity, respecting traditional knowledge, supporting farming communities, and building supply chains that remain accountable to both people and land.

Building up to this year’s World Fair Trade Day, we invited people to make one fair switch at a time. Because even the smallest conscious choice can help support farmers, communities, and traditions that deserve to survive.

This World Fair Trade Day, we explored a simple idea. That fairness can begin with the everyday choices we make without even realising their impact.

The oil we cook with.
The rice we bring home.
The honey we consume.
The snacks we reach for between meals.
The butterfly pea flower we brew into moments of pause and wellness.

Through the One Fair Switch campaign, each product became a reminder that food is never just a product on a shelf. Behind every choice are farmers, forest communities, indigenous knowledge systems, traditional seeds, and supply chains that either protect or exploit the people who sustain them.

We spoke about coconut oil that stays closer to its natural form and supports farmers through fairer trade practices. Indigenous rice varieties preserved through generations of farming wisdom. Wild honey harvested by communities living alongside forests and bees. Cashews sourced through systems that value the farmer beyond the final transaction. Herbal tea from Butterfly pea flower rooted in centuries of traditional knowledge, long before wellness became an industry.

At Elements Fair & Organic, fair trade is not an addition to the process. It is the foundation of how we source, work, and build relationships. Because every conscious switch, no matter how small, has the power to support biodiversity, dignity in labour, traditional farming communities, and food systems that remain accountable to both people and land.

One kitchen. One decision. One fair switch at a time.

Today, on World Fair Trade Day, we are reminded that even the smallest everyday choices are connected to larger systems of farming, sourcing, and labour that shape the lives of the people behind our food.

What we eat between meals may feel like a small decision, but most packaged nuts move through heavily commercial supply chains where the focus is on scale and speed, while the farmer is often left with the smallest share of value. Processing, sourcing, and pricing are designed for efficiency, not always for fairness or transparency.

This is where one fair switch begins to matter. Choosing Elements Organic Cashews means choosing nuts that are naturally processed, responsibly sourced, and grown by farmers who receive dignified returns for their produce. It is a way of supporting food systems that value people as much as products, while keeping food closer to its natural form.

The One Fair Switch campaign is built on the belief that even the smallest everyday choices can create meaningful impact. A simple switch in what we snack on can help support fair trade, encourage ethical sourcing, and strengthen systems where farmers are recognised as an essential part of the value chain, not the last consideration in it.

Honey is shaped by everything around it. The forests bees forage in, the flowers they pollinate, the seasons they move through, and the communities that harvest it with care. What reaches our table is not just a sweetener, but part of an entire ecosystem.

Much of the commercial honey available today is heavily heated, ultra-filtered, and blended for consistency. In the process, it often moves further away from what honey naturally is. What disappears is not only flavour and character, but also traceability, purity, and the connection between people, forests, and bees.

This is where one fair switch begins to matter. Choosing Elements Wild Honey means choosing honey that comes from forests untouched by chemicals and harvested by communities that have lived alongside bees for generations. It remains closer to its natural form, carrying the richness of the landscapes it comes from while supporting livelihoods rooted in coexistence with nature.

The One Fair Switch campaign is built on the belief that everyday choices can create meaningful change. A simple switch in what we buy can help protect biodiversity, support traditional knowledge systems, and encourage fairer relationships between producers, communities, and the food we consume.

Building up to this year’s World Fair Trade Day (May 9th), make one fair switch.

The rice we choose carries more than taste or texture. It carries the story of the land it came from, the seeds that survived generations, and the farmers who chose to protect them instead of replacing them.

Much of the rice found on supermarket shelves today is bred for uniformity and yield. In the process, many indigenous varieties that were once deeply connected to local food cultures, nutrition, and biodiversity have slowly disappeared. What is lost is not just diversity in grain, but knowledge, resilience, and a relationship with the land that took generations to build.

This is where one fair switch begins to matter. Choosing Kabani indigenous rice means supporting traditional varieties that continue to survive because farmers refused to let them disappear. Richer in natural fibre and nutrients, rooted in local farming traditions, and grown with greater respect for the soil, these grains represent a food system that values more than productivity alone.

The One Fair Switch campaign is about recognising how everyday choices shape larger systems. A single switch in what we buy can support biodiversity, strengthen fair trade, and help preserve farming communities that continue to protect indigenous food cultures for future generations.

Same kitchen. One fair switch. A fairer outcome.

The choices we make in our kitchens don’t begin and end with us. They travel back to farms, to processes, to people whose work often goes unseen.

Most refined oils are heavily processed, often stripped of their natural qualities and disconnected from their source. What we gain in uniformity, we often lose in nutrition, transparency, and fairness to the farmer, which is why even a small shift in what we choose can begin to change the system behind it.

Same kitchen. One fair switch. A fairer outcome.

Choosing Elements Organic Coconut Oil means choosing minimal processing, no unnecessary refinement, and a system where farmers are paid fairly for what they grow. It is a shift towards food that stays closer to its origin and supply chains that remain accountable, which is exactly what the One Fair Switch campaign is built on, the idea that a single, conscious change in our everyday choices can create a fairer system for the people behind our food by influencing farmers’ livelihoods, production practices, and the integrity of what reaches our table.

This World Fair Trade Day, make one fair switch.

Not all ghee is made the same. And not all choices are equal.

✅ Sourced from indigenous breeds
✅ Made without additives or shortcuts
✅ Rooted in traditional processes

At Elements, what you choose is not just about taste, but about where it comes from, how it is made, and what it continues to support.

Good catch, that should definitely be there. Here are the corrected ones:

Labour is not separate from land.
And rights are not separate from survival.

This International Labour Day, we remember those who understood that the fight for workers is also a fight for the earth that sustains them. Together, these reflections remind us that labour, land, and life are deeply interconnected, not separate struggles but parts of the same whole.

Agriculture sustains us. But who sustains agriculture?

Farmers continue to work in environments where safety is uncertain and risks are constant. For too many farmers, exposure to harmful chemicals is part of the job.

This World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we cannot ignore our deep dissatisfaction with a system where those who grow our food continue to work without safety, protection, or real alternatives and will continue to strive towards the fair treatment of those behind our foods.
