Ghee (NEI in Tamil) is essential to our cuisine irrespective of which part of India we are from. We use it in our day to day cooking, in making sweets, and on special occasions and festivals we have it in copious amounts. For our mothers and grandmothers
making ghee at home was second nature and a dollop of it on roti or rice was a given. Over time, the emergence of nuclear families, hectic work schedules and fast paced lifestyle led to ghee being made at home a tedious, time consuming process, especially in our big cities. At NEI NATIVE, we make the Ghee/ Nei from A2 full cream milk and deliver it to yours, fresh and without preservatives, untouched by machine or additives. Each jar of ghee is personally made with my mother’s recipe, expertise and experience of over 45 years! Therattipal in Tamil literally means condensed (theratti) (pal) milk. It may sound like Khoya but unlike Khoya which is used as a base ingredient for making other sweets, Therattipal is the sweet dish itself due to the way it is made. This soft, gooey, crystal like, melt in your mouth delight is perfect for special occasions, festivals or just a spoonful everyday if you have a sweet tooth. Lesser known in the rest of the country, Therattipal is a sweet treat that is quite irresistible once you try it! Artisanal are our delicacies; while we ensure consistency of flavor, color, texture and taste, each jar is unique as it is made by hand and hand tools.
