The Government is preparing to roll out a new public awareness campaign in the coming weeks — and it’s all about one thing: cutting costs by cutting energy use.
The message is simple: *use less, save more.*
Expect to see it everywhere — radio, TV, newspapers, and social media — with practical tips like carpooling, taking public transport, running washing machines during off-peak hours, and ditching the tumble dryer in favour of the clothesline.
But that’s just the start.
Behind the scenes, more serious measures are being considered if things escalate. These could include reducing speed limits by at least 10km/h to lower fuel consumption, limiting unnecessary car journeys, and even encouraging people to cut back on air travel.
There’s also talk of increased remote working where possible — though a full return to Covid-style mandates isn’t currently on the table.
Officials are meeting daily to monitor the situation and decide next steps, with guidance influenced by recent recommendations from the International Energy Agency.
It’s all pointing in one direction…
Changes could be coming — and they may affect how we live day to day.
What do you think — reasonable steps, or going too far?
