Notice Regarding Delivery Delays

First, we sincerely apologize for the delays in the delivery of your ordered items.

Currently, Kyoto is in the production season for 2026 tea leaves.

While we strive daily to source high-quality tea leaves at fair prices, the entry of major overseas food wholesalers into the Japanese tea market last year has created various issues regarding both price and quality.

Since March, we have been spending a significant amount of time exchanging information with tea plantation owners and wholesalers, and monitoring trends in the tea leaf market, which has caused delays in shipping to individual customers and responding to inquiries.

Furthermore, regarding deliveries to the United States, the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) has mandated a prior notification system since July of last year. Previously, this only applied to commercial deliveries, but this spring, its scope has been expanded to include individual customers, and it is expected to become even stricter in the future.

Appropriate measures must be taken to comply with this regulation. Failure to comply may result in your shipment being held at customs, or in the worst case, returned.

To avoid such situations, we are currently in the process of registering for advance notification.

Once this process is complete, we will begin shipping orders in the order they were received. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

4月9日(木)より京番茶の価格を1200円（400ｇあたり）に改訂させて頂きます。
昨秋来、京番茶の原料までもが疑似抹茶の原料に使われるようになり、価格が高騰しております。
なお、最小単位が昔ながらの400ｇでございます。
これ以下の分量では1200円でも厳しい状況です。

we will be opening from around 2:00 PM due to a tea ceremony commemorating the 400th anniversary of the death of Kenchu, founder of the Yabunouchi school of Old style tea ceremony.

日本茶が需要に対する供給量の絶対的な不足に陥っております。
今は在庫の確保を最優先に動かざるを得ません。

メッセンジャーでお問い合わせ頂いても、お応えするまでにおおよそ一週間かかってしまいます。
また、ご注文から出荷まで、国内で7～10日程度、海外の場合は量にもよりますが、10日～2週間かかります。
さらに抹茶に関しましては在庫不足から更に日数がかかる場合もあります。

何卒御理解のほどをお願い申し上げます。

Currently, Japanese tea supply is extremely insufficient relative to demand.
We have no choice but to make securing inventory our top priority.

Even if you contact us via messenger, it will take approximately one week for us to respond.

In addition, from the time of order to shipping, it takes approximately 7-10 days for domestic orders, and 10 days to 2 weeks for overseas orders, depending on the quantity.

For matcha, it may take even longer due to stock shortages.

令和七年師走

宇治茶の現状について
　
　師走の候、お伺い申し上げます。
　本日は昨今の日本茶、とりわけ宇治茶の現状についてお知らせ致します。
　
　一昨年よりの世界的な抹茶ブームが未だ継続しております。また今年になってからは、煎茶・玉露・番茶にまでブームが起こっております。
　それにつれて、昨秋より、茶業者以外の資本が日本茶販売に参入し、抹茶を中心に品薄が続いてまいりました。

　私共では、被覆栽培された碾茶を、石臼で碾いたもののみを抹茶と呼んでおりますが、それ以外を抹茶と称することを禁じる法的な規制がないため苦慮しております。

　昨秋来、加工用抹茶の原料として、被覆栽培でない下級煎茶・川柳類・果ては京番茶の原料までその矛先は向けられております。
　それらの原料を粉砕機で砕いて、「抹茶」と称して商う業者が増えてきました。

　その結果、抹茶以外の葉茶が品薄となり、取引価格が今年度産より高騰しております。

　弊店では今年一月に価格改訂したばかりですので、極力現行価格を維持したいと思っておりますが、番茶系統（京番茶・焙じ茶・鴈金・蓬莱茶・粉茶・真）を中心に再値上げせざるを得ない状況になりました。また、抹茶・玉露・煎茶につきましても予断を許しません。
　今年一杯は現行価格を維持致しますが、来年一月には価格改訂させて頂かざるをえない状況でございます。

この先、初釜等へのお茶の確保も必要となりますので、一日のお人あたりの販売制限を３個とさせて頂きます。

Starting in August, we will be relaxing the limit on the number of matcha teas per person as shown in the table.

Regarding wholesale sales:
Due to the small amount of matcha available, we have set the wholesale and retail prices the same to avoid rapid growth.

For Yomogashima, Miyako no Shiro, and Hatsu Mukashi, we can handle orders up to 2kg (200g x 100) with proof from the supplier.

For Miyako no Mukashi and Tancho, we can handle orders up to 20 of each in 40g cans.

Starting in August, we will be relaxing the sales restrictions on matcha as shown in the table.
If you need a certain amount for a tea ceremony or other event, please contact us and we will be as flexible as possible to accommodate your request.

Regarding wholesale sales:
