SHORT STORIES
1. The Rise of Alina. ( TR. WON)
Alina stood at the gate of Crestwood Academy, her worn-out backpack slung over one shoulder. The prestigious private school was known for its elite students—children of politicians, business tycoons, and celebrities. Alina was none of those. She had earned a scholarship through sheer determination and brilliance, but to her classmates, she was nothing more than an outsider.
From the moment she stepped into the grand halls of Crestwood, she felt the weight of their stares. The designer-clad girls whispered behind her back, their laughter cutting through her like knives. The boys smirked, mocking her simple outfits and the way she couldn't afford the latest tech gadgets. But the worst among them was Cassandra Devereaux—the queen bee of Crestwood, daughter of a media mogul, and the one who made it her mission to remind Alina that she didn’t belong.
"Did you get that dress from a thrift store, Alina?" Cassandra sneered one morning, her clique giggling behind her.
Alina clenched her fists but forced a smile. "Actually, yes. And at least I paid for it myself."
Cassandra’s smirk faltered for a second, but she quickly regained composure. "How adorable. You should be grateful you're even here. Maybe one day, if you work hard enough, you can be my assistant."
Laughter erupted around them, but Alina said nothing. She had learned that words wouldn't win her battles—only success would.
*********
Years passed, and Alina endured every humiliation in silence. She focused on her studies, spent nights in the library, and worked part-time jobs to help her struggling mother. While Cassandra and her friends flaunted their wealth, Alina built knowledge, resilience, and ambition.

By graduation, she had secured a full scholarship to one of the world's top universities. As she packed her bags, Cassandra and her clique partied their way into cushy positions in their parents' companies.

*A REJECTED POOR GIRL

Chapter 1: The Beginning*

In a small, rundown village nestled between sprawling fields and dense forests, lived a young girl named Elara. She was known throughout the village for her gentle smile and bright, curious eyes that held a world of dreams.

Elara's life was not an easy one. Her family was among the poorest in the village, struggling to make ends meet. They lived in a humble cottage, its roof patched with whatever materials they could find, and its walls showing the signs of years of neglect.

Her father, Thorne, was a kind-hearted but weary man who worked tirelessly in the fields, earning barely enough to feed his family. Elara's mother, Liora, was frail and often ill, leaving Elara to shoulder much of the household responsibilities.

Despite their hardships, Elara's spirit remained unbroken. She often wandered into the village, her tattered dress fluttering in the wind, seeking solace in the simple joys of life. She loved watching the children play, their laughter echoing in the streets, and listening to the tales spun by the elders.

One day, while fetching water from the village well, Elara overheard a conversation between two women. They spoke of a grand feast to be held at the manor of Lord Donovan, the village's wealthiest and most influential figure.

The feast was to celebrate the arrival of Lord Donovan's only son, Marcus, who had been away for many years studying in the city. The villagers were abuzz with excitement, each hoping to catch a glimpse of the young lord.

Elara, curious and captivated by the talk of the feast, couldn't help but dream of attending. She imagined herself in a beautiful gown, dancing under the twinkling stars, her worries forgotten for just one night.

But reality soon set in, and Elara knew her place. She was just a poor girl, unnoticed and uninvited to such grand events. The thought weighed heavily on her heart, but she brushed it aside and continued with her chores.
