Karis was born a natural herder; his mother would tell her friends he was born running after his
father’s livestock. He grew up herding and fiercely protecting his father’s cattle. From his father
he learnt how to find the greenest spots that lay undiscovered by other herdsmen. If anyone in
the village was looking for someone to run after and slaughter their chicken, Karis was the
person t
hey’d offer a few chapos for the job. He became his father’s right hand man in favour
of his 6 siblings. When he needed assistance in slaughtering one of his animals or birds, he’d call
Karis, who had the quickest hands. He’d proudly say his son Karis was his only child staying true
to their ancestral lineage of hunters and gatherers. Growing up, Karis had a way with the meat, callous hands and all. He was going to become a
butcher, he knew it, nobody could argue with his obvious skill and passion. Everyone loved it,
who wouldn’t love a man with that level of dexterity with his meat? Who had an uncanny
ability to balance flavors that so many had to get training to achieve? Over time, his skill has
