Sometimes, school attendance starts with what’s on the plate.
At Munyek Primary School in Elgeyo Marakwet County, something encouraging is happening.
Together with The Midwest Food Bank East, Soy Afric is supporting a school feeding initiative that puts a hot, nutritious meal on the table for learners.
And this week, the school shared something worth celebrating: several classes recorded 100% attendance.
For a school that has struggled with attendance over time, that number means more than a full register. It means more children showing up, getting nourished, sitting in class and having a chance to learn.
A meal may seem like a small thing. But for a child, it can be the difference between staying home and showing up.
We want to see more schools experience this.
If you are a school, government institution or NGO interested in partnering on a school feeding programme, let’s talk.
