Reflection I:
Growing up in a remote village along the ThailandβCambodia border, I experienced many challenges that shaped my determination to pursue education and build a better future. My hometown is a small community where opportunities for higher education and professional development are limited. Many young people in my village stop studying early because of financial difficulties or the need to support their families. However, these challenges became my motivation to work harder and seek greater opportunities.
Living in a border area exposed me to a different way of life. I saw how communities struggled with limited resources, lack of access to quality education, and fewer employment options. These experiences made me realize the importance of education as a powerful tool to change not only my own life but also the lives of people in my community.
With this motivation, I decided to move to Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia, to pursue my studies and gain professional experience. The decision was not easy because it meant leaving my family and adapting to a completely new environment. Phnom Penh is a fast-growing city with many opportunities but also many challenges, especially for someone coming from a rural background. I had to adjust to city life, manage my expenses carefully, and balance both study and work.
Despite these challenges, studying and working in Phnom Penh has been a transformative experience for me. It has allowed me to gain knowledge, develop new skills, and meet people from different backgrounds. Working while studying has also taught me the value of responsibility, discipline, and perseverance.
My journey from a remote border village to Phnom Penh represents more than just a change in location. It represents my determination to overcome obstacles and pursue my dreams. I believe that with dedication and continuous learning, I can build a career and contribute positively to society.
To those who are from the remote areas, I want you to believe in education which can open doors for you to new opportunities. The only thing we all have to have is the commitment, hardworking, and never give up. Remember, "no matter where we start in life, with determination and hard work, we can create a better future".
