Fësch Haff SARl

Fësch Haff SARl At Fësch Haff, we develop and implement aquaponic farms.

These are local farms that can produce greens, lettuce, herbs, fruits, and vegetables utilizing nutrients produced from fish farms in a closed-loop and sustainable ecosystem.

🇱🇺 De September bréngt eis den Iwwergang vum Summer an den Hierscht – an domat vill regional Produiten, déi elo Saison hunn. 🍇🎃 D’Drauwelies steet virun der Dier an och d’Grompere ginn elo rausgeholl. Wousst Dir? 🥔 Grompere sollten ëmmer däischter an dréche gelagert ginn.

🇬🇧 September marks the transition from summer to autumn – bringing with it plenty of regional produce that is now in season. 🍇🎃 The grape harvest is just around the corner, and it’s also time to harvest the potatoes. Did you know? 🥔 Potatoes should always be stored in a dark, dry place. Too much exposure to light can cause them to turn green and produce higher levels of solanine.

How can greenhouses benefit Luxembourg and our farmers?

1. Maximizing Space

Greenhouses are incredibly space efficient, producing anywhere between 5 to 10 times more per square metre than traditional farming. Maximizing space is essential in a small (yet mighty) country like Luxembourg.

2. Reducing External Reliance

Luxembourg imports 95% of its produce from other countries. Multiple harvests grown in local greenhouses would benefit the local economy and improve Luxembourg’s self-sufficiency and food sovereignty.

3. Lower Crop Loss

The controlled environment of a greenhouse offers crops a stable environment, reducing the likelihood of crop loss to unforeseen elements. This means less stress on our farmers who rely on harvests for their livelihood.

Temperatures are rising and droughts are persisting. It's time to get serious about farming methods that prioritise higher crop yields and require fewer resources.

Did you know that greenhouse agriculture can produce the same crop yield using up to 90% less water than traditional open-field farming?

You might also not know that in a closed-loop hydroponic greenhouse, unused irrigation water is captured and reused endlessly.

Greenhouses don't just save water, they optimize it, yielding up to 10x more food per gallon of water compared to open-air agriculture.

So, what are we waiting for?

🇱🇺 Am August erreecht d’Auswiel u regionalem Uebst a Geméis hiren Héichpunkt. 🍅🍐🫑 Vun Tomaten a Paprika iwwer Kornischongen, Mirabellen a Biere bis bei Äppel – elo ass déi beschten Zäit, fir regional a saisonal anzekafen. 🌱

Wousst Dir?

🇬🇧 In August, the selection of regional fruits and vegetables reaches its peak. 🍅🍐🫑 From tomatoes and peppers to cucumbers, mirabelle plums, pears and apples, now is the perfect time to enjoy regional, seasonal produce. 🌱

The last few weeks have been quite busy down at the farm.

Hard work is the name of the game in agriculture, but we managed to take a few moments to appreciate the collaboration, fruits of our labour and our greenhouse's newest residents!

The recent heatwaves across Europe have been hard on everyone, particularly for farmers.

Unseasonal and unpredictable temperatures coupled with drought have resulted in billions of euros worth of crop loss. Not only do farmer's rely on crop harvests for their livelihoods, the global population depends on farmers for our food.

With heatwaves and droughts expected to increase in frequency, our survival depends on finding new and sustainable solutions.

Greenhouse Agriculture is one of those solutions and here's why:

1. Greater water efficiency

2. More reliable crop yields

3. Temperature control

4. Sunlight protection

Our greenhouse may be high-tech, but it's important to remember the roots of traditional farming.

Any guesses what we planted?
