The government says the EGENCO board is scheduled to meet on September 17 this month to shortlist candidates to be interviewed for the position of the chief executive officer at the institution.
Comptroller of Statutory Corporation Peter Simbani told Zodiak Online that they are upbeat about filling the position this year for the smooth operations of the company.
Meanwhile, Centre for Social Accountability and Transparency (CSAT) executive director W***y Kambwandira has urged the authorities to be cautious of hiring a competent personnel.
In October last year, the then EGENCO CEO William Liabunya was sent on a forced leave to pave way for a forensic audit investigations on the restoration of Kapichira Power Station.
But his contract expired in December last year hence in June this year, the company released a vacancy for the position with the call for applications closed on 15 July 2024.
