The development of PI|POL arises after a series of observations in the area, and coming to the conclusion that there were two problems that needed urgent attention: the environment, and the social situation. The area is located almost in the outskirts of the city, therefore really far from the city Center and also from various public spaces. A special characteristic of the project site is its loca
tion, situated between low income and medium income neighborhoods, giving the feeling that separates these spaces, thus creating a barrier. Our project wants to eliminate tha barrier creating different spaces, beggining with a new local market with its own fields, becoming the city's first farmers market. The next stage consists on the development of an icon in the area, something to give people a sense of belonging. And out third stage consists on the development of cohousing buildings, where a sense of community and belonging will be reinforced, scattering this feel to its surrounding area. We believe that the creation of these spaces will reintegrate the society and bring new air into the area. Water and air treatment are part of our plan seeing as we want a cleaner city. We also hope that it changes the way people live the city, and they start living it in a more ecological and friendlier way.
