As many of you already know my housband and I used to organize an organic market here in Playa (Tianguis Organico y Solidario de Playa del Carmen) this project borned in 2011 with 8 producers from Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Leona Vicario, you know that we are a couple of biologist from México City, and in this city and sorroundings you can find great a variety of organic products because is the
hearth of our country also the biggest city, but here in Quintana Roo everything is different, during those years we were looking for more local farmers, and we found more people and some other found us, when someone wanted to sell in the organic market we use to make sure (and we still doing) that the fruit, or mermelade or egg are really organic or at least in process of being organic, as a said many people found us but when we told them that we wanted to visit their farm or kitchen, most of them refused, (even it was a visit without cost for taking photos and taking notes to have enough information to asure the people that the products were what they said)
The years passed and people that visited the market wanted to buy also apples, pears, potatoes and some many other fruits and vegetables that does not grow very well on Quintana Roo weather, some months ago we tried to bring vegetables and fruits but I was impossible because distance and minimum for a refrigerated terrestrial transportation and by plain the cost was too high. We are part of a big network of family farmers and producers in all our country, so Chiapas a neighbor estate have different kind of weathers and is not so far as Mexico City, so the cost of bring fresh fruits and vegetables is little less expensive and time traveling is just one day not seven. They have a lot of things that we can bring from different small twons. All of this products covers at least 80 percent of organic standars. We are going to change a little the project, and know we are going to publish every twoo weeks the list of available things for buying. Now your purchase will arrive to your door, for making it possible we need at least 20 families and the minimum amount of order must be 600 pesos (of course you can choose what ever you want to buy from the list)
For ordering you must pay in advance because all are small producers and they can not give us credit or something like that.
