Introducing Pogun Vanilla Farm in Akii, Tambunan.

Thank you to Datin S.P. Cecelia Kitingan , Chairman RMBS Tambunan Tuan Justin and relatives Joe, Henry (Giuk), and Madius , the team of volunteers who have played an important role in realizing the vision of YB DSP Dr. Jeffrey G. Kitingan (Deputy Chief Minister 1 & Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Sabah Food Industry) to make Tambunan the main producer of vanilla.

The name "Pogun di Akii," which means "Old house of grandfather" in Dusun language, handpicked by YB DSP Dr. Jeffrey.

Through this garden, a team of volunteers has planned various programs to improve the economy of the community in Tambunan by transferring the knowledge of vanilla cultivation to the participants.
The aim is to give birth to new entrepreneurs in the field, strengthen the local economy, and to make vanilla plantation a major source of income for the community.

Recording my journey in exploring and understanding more on the Vanilla’s production potential in our country – A TRIP to My Kebun Vanilla at Kinarut Sabah a few months back.

The farm is managed by Mr Leo Komuji who has a solid 15 years of experience in vanilla plantation.

On the same day, we are accompanied by the visitation of the Department of Agriculture Selangor, leaded by Director Tuan Haji Azahar Bin Ibrahim, Deputy Director Tuan Wan Mohammad Zukarnian Bin Baharudin and colleagues. Their arrival has encouraged a lot of discussions on vanilla and we are humbled by their down-to-earth personas.

Similar to ‘Journey to the West’, my ‘Journey to the East’ makes me contemplating: Action is more needed than planning.

NOW go do some FARMING. The fruit will come.

"Berbaloi saya datang dari Melaka. Pavilion setiap negeri ada keistimewaan dan Pavilion Selangor saya tertarik dengan tanaman vanila” katanya ditemui di Pameran MAHA 2024 di Taman Ekspo Pertanian Malaysia (Maeps), Serdang semalam - Atheelia Mohd Yatim, 34.

From an existing rubber estate to this current plantation project, transformation has taken place merely within 12 months.

It was a miracle journey as we venture into agriculture sector, helps are always around us. We appreciate all the wonderful COINCIDENCE and we are looking forward to create MORE of that.
