Continuous improvement. 🌳💧

Orchard management is also about observing how things work over time — and making changes when needed.

As our trees continue to grow, we observed that the positioning of some of our sprinkler heads could be improved.

We are now relocating them further towards the canopy edge, while adding more sprinklers for our mature trees to provide better watering coverage around the active root zone.

A system that worked before may not always remain the best setup as the orchard develops.

Another small improvement from what we continue to observe and learn at Durian Tondong — season by season.

Two generations. One orchard.

Durian Tondong would not be where it is today without our combined efforts.

We don’t always agree on how things should be done 😂 — but perhaps that’s part of the journey too.

Different experiences, different perspectives, and one common goal: to keep improving the orchard, season after season.

Looking back at where we started, there’s still a long way to go.

But sometimes it’s good to stop for a moment and appreciate how far we’ve already come together.

Another first from our home garden. 🌳

Just when we thought our first home-grown Musang King durian was the highlight… another little surprise followed.

Our first Black Thorn durian dropped naturally from the tree.

A small milestone, but an interesting one for us. After years of watching these trees grow, there is always something special about finally opening the first fruit and seeing what nature has produced.

And since we had our home-grown Musang King at the same time, we couldn’t resist putting the two side by side. 😄

Different cultivars. Different colours. Different characters — from the same little home garden.

For us, moments like these are part of the journey: grow, observe, taste, learn… and see how each tree develops season after season.

Another Musang King first for us. 😊

Earlier this season, we harvested our first Musang King from the Durian Tondong orchard.

And now, another first — this time from a Musang King tree growing quietly in our home garden. 😂

After years of waiting, the tree finally gave us its first fruit.

Naturally ripened and dropped from the tree, revealing beautiful yellow flesh with a creamy texture and surprisingly good flesh-to-seed ratio.

One fruit is never enough to judge a tree, of course. We’ll continue observing how it performs over the coming seasons.

But for now, two Musang King firsts in one season is a little milestone worth remembering. 😊

The harvest may be over.
The work isn’t.

Another shipment of fertiliser arrived at Durian Tondong.

For many people, the durian season ends when the last fruit is eaten.

For us, that’s when preparation for the next season begins.

Every bag represents another investment into healthier trees, stronger growth and better fruit quality—not just for the coming season, but for many seasons ahead.

Good durian isn’t created during harvest.

It is built through countless decisions made long before the first flower appears.

Season after season, we continue learning, improving and investing in our orchard.

Because quality doesn’t happen by chance.

It is cultivated.

Nature is our greatest teacher.

Not every season leaves behind only good memories.

Recently, strong winds caused one of the major branches on this mature durian tree to fail, leaving a significant wound on the trunk.

Moments like this remind us that growing durians is never just about harvest.

There are challenges we cannot prevent.

What we can control is how we respond.

Over the coming months, our focus will be on helping this tree recover while continuing to care for the rest of the orchard.

Every setback teaches us something.

Every season adds another chapter to our journey.

Not every naturally fallen durian becomes a Durian Tondong selection.

Every season reminds us that nature doesn’t produce identical fruits.

These three durians were harvested from our orchard.

Each ripened naturally on the tree before falling.

Yet, once opened, they revealed different colour, flesh development and overall eating quality.

This is one of the reasons why naturally grown durians can never be completely identical—even from the same orchard.

While all three durians are perfectly edible, not every fruit reaches the quality we hope to share.

That’s why every durian is individually inspected and evaluated.

Our goal isn’t to claim perfection.

Our goal is to keep improving—season after season.

Because we believe consistency begins with being honest about every harvest.
