POSTURE AND POSITIONING FOR SINGERS
Posture and position are important aspects of singing as they can affect the quality of sound and the overall performance. Here are some tips on posture and position for singers:
Stand straight: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and keep your body straight. Avoid slouching or leaning to one side as this can restrict your breathing and affect your voice.
Relax your shoulders: Tension in your shoulders can affect your posture and your breathing. Keep your shoulders relaxed and avoid raising them while singing.
Keep your chin level: Avoid tilting your head up or down while singing. Keep your chin level to allow for proper airflow and to prevent strain on your neck muscles.
Open your chest: Opening your chest helps to expand your lungs and increase your breathing capacity. Stand straight and raise your arms above your head, then slowly lower them while keeping your chest open.
Engage your core: Your core muscles are important for supporting your breathing and maintaining good posture. Engage your core by pulling your belly button towards your spine while singing.
Keep your mouth and throat relaxed: Tension in your mouth and throat can affect your voice and cause strain. Keep your mouth and throat relaxed while singing and avoid clenching your jaw or tensing your neck muscles.
