Meet our Poet. Yahuza Usman
Yahuza Usman is an individual with a wide range of skills and interests. He is a Wikimedian, Hafiz, typist, graphic designer, voracious reader, book reviewer, poet, and essayist. Currently, he is an SS 2(science) student at Al-Mishkat Academy in Jalingo. In addition to his academic pursuits, he is actively involved in various organizations and holds notable positions. He serves as the President of the MSSN Forum of Umara, Jalingo Area Council for the 2022/2023 session.
Furthermore, he is the Taraba State Secretary of the Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation, showcasing his dedication to promoting the arts. His works have been published or are forthcoming in reputable newspapers, magazines, blogs, and anthologies both national and international.
His literary achievements are noteworthy. He was shortlisted for the 2022 Iconic Writers of India by Sparkling Conexpress Media, a recognition that highlights his talent and potential. Additionally, he emerged as the runner-up in the Taraba Youth for Peace Project Essay Competition organized by Dar Al Andalus Centre in October 2022. His writing skills were acknowledged at the 2023 Hadiza Ibrahim Aliyu School Festival (HIASFEST 2023) in Minna, Niger State, where he won the first prize for on-the-spot non-fiction writing.
Yahuza resides in Mafindi and utilizes the pseudonym "Crawling Writer" for his creative pursuits.
