Thus says The Lord: The words of scoffers come forth from a hard and troubled heart, from a place void of understanding. Their words are like chaff, their every lofty assertion dust carried away by the wind. As a ship tossed about by rough seas, so is the plight of the ungodly; in a dark sea of confusion, they attempt to sail against every wind of doctrine which opposes them. The very first lady that crushed on me was our Anatomy lecturer.

Her name was Mrs. Mary utibe.

Mrs. Mary utibe was very fair in complexion, and not even a person would dare to tag her height as neither short nor tall.

Mrs. Mary utibe was one true definition of beauty, that anyone who tried to make comparison in context of beauty between ladies in campus tends to use Mrs. Comfort as the S. I. unit.

Right from the very first day she came to lecture in our class, I had always liked and admired her. This was because she looked so much like my deceased mother.

Now, this was how it all happened:

When I newly gained admission into the university, during one of our lectures with Mrs. Mary utibe, something happened.

While she was teaching and writing on the white board, she suddenly turned and faced us, and just like I was hallucinating, her eyes fell on me.

She stopped teaching and for a few seconds, she continued staring at me.

Everyone gave her a weird stare.

But after they traced where exactly she was gazing at, I became the center of attention.

Noticing this, she smiled at me, then she faced the board and resumed teaching.

That was just the beginning.

Now, after that day, whenever she sees me anywhere, she would stare and smile at me.

When everyone started realizing and becoming aware of this, suspicion aroused.

If only they knew I was as innocent as a kid and had nothing with Mrs. Comfort.

It got to a point that I couldn't endure her stares anymore, so I confided in Elvis โ€” my roommate, because if I had gone to my coursemates, they would have possibly doubted or laughed at me.

"You have to go to her bro. For her to be smiling at you like this means only one thing. She's in love with bro. Don't be dull and naive! Try to dey man-up sometimes. You no be woman!" He said, jokingly, but deep down I sensed the seriousness in-between his words.

So the next day, after lecture ended, I made up my mind to go to Mrs. Comfort's office.

Here are 10 lessons from the book The Power of Habit by KEMI KEVIN:

1. Habits are powerful forces that shape our lives. They can help us achieve our goals or hold us back from success.

2. Habits are formed by a three-step loop: cue, routine, and reward. The cue is a trigger that tells our brains to go into automatic mode. The routine is the behavior we perform. The reward is what we get out of the behavior.

3. Once a habit is formed, it can be very difficult to change. This is because the brain creates a neural pathway for the habit. The more we repeat the habit, the stronger the neural pathway becomes.

4. However, it is possible to change habits. The key is to identify the cue and reward for the habit you want to change. Once you know what triggers the habit and what you get out of it, you can start to create a new habit loop.

5. One way to change a habit is to insert a new routine into the habit loop. This can be done by making small changes to the cue or reward. For example, if you want to stop eating junk food, you could start by putting it out of sight. This will make it less likely that you will be triggered to eat it.

6. Another way to change a habit is to make the new routine more attractive. This can be done by making it more rewarding or by making it easier to do. For example, if you want to start exercising, you could make a deal with a friend to go to the gym together. This will make it more likely that you will actually go.

7. It is important to be patient when trying to change a habit. It can take weeks or even months to break a bad habit and form a new one. Don't give up if you don't see results immediately.

8. It is also important to be kind to yourself. Changing habits is hard work. Don't beat yourself up if you slip up. Just pick yourself up and start again.
