**OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: The Official Match Ball for the FIFA World Cup 2026 - TRIONDA**

The FIFA World Cup 2026 has reached a pivotal milestone with the unveiling of the Official Match Ball, the adidas TRIONDA. This vibrant match ball features a striking color scheme of red, green, and blue, representing the three host nations: Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The name "TRIONDA," derived from Spanish meaning "three waves," reflects the unprecedented collaboration among these three nations as they unite to host the FIFA World Cup™ for the first time. This launch is part of a series of significant developments leading up to the tournament, including the announcement that FIFA will contribute USD 1 to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund for each World Cup 2026 ticket sold. Additionally, over 4.5 million fans from 216 countries have participated in the Visa Presale Draw, marking the beginning of ticket sales for this highly anticipated event.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed enthusiasm about the new match ball, stating, “The Official Match Ball for the FIFA World Cup 26 is here, and it is a remarkable design! I am proud to present TRIONDA. adidas has created yet another iconic FIFA World Cup ball that embodies the unity and passion of the host nations — Canada, Mexico, and the United States. I eagerly await the moment this beautiful ball finds the back of the net. The countdown to the greatest FIFA World Cup ever is underway, and the ball is in motion!”

The TRIONDA’s innovative design features a four-panel construction with fluid geometry, symbolizing the waves referenced in its name. The panels are connected to form a triangle at the ball's center, representing the historic union of the three host countries. Each host nation's unique iconography adorns the ball: the maple leaf for Canada, an eagle for Mexico, and a star for the United States. Additionally, gold embellishments pay tribute to the FIFA World Cup Trophy, emphasizing the prestigious nature of FIFA’s flagship tournament.

In terms of performance, the TRIONDA introduces several key innovations. The four-panel construction incorporates intentionally deep seams, enhancing the ball's aerodynamic stability by providing evenly distributed drag as it moves through the air. Moreover, embossed icons, which are only visible up close, improve grip during wet or humid conditions, facilitating better control for players.

Furthermore, the TRIONDA is equipped with advanced connected ball technology, featuring a state-of-the-art 500Hz motion sensor chip. This technology provides real-time insights into the ball’s movement and transmits precise data to the video assistant referee system, thereby enhancing the decision-making capabilities of match officials.

As we move closer to the tournament, excitement continues to build around the TRIONDA, which embodies the spirit of unity and celebration at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

On a night etched in the memories of the Blundell Park faithful, League Two side Grimsby Town orchestrated a remarkable upset in the Carabao Cup, eliminating Manchester United in a gripping penalty shootout. After an exhilarating 2-2 deadlock, the Mariners emerged victorious 12-11 in the shootout, marking one of the most significant achievements in their recent history and exacerbating the crisis for Ruben Amorim’s United.

Grimsby stunned their distinguished opponents early in the match, with Charles Vernam and former United academy player Tyrell Warren netting to establish an impressive 2-0 advantage. Manchester United, displaying struggles with rhythm and defensive cohesion, appeared vulnerable, particularly due to a mistake from the beleaguered goalkeeper André Onana.

The Red Devils managed to mitigate the situation, with second-half substitute Bryan Mbeumo narrowing the deficit before captain Harry Maguire, in the 89th minute, rose to head in the equalizer, silencing the home crowd and forcing the match into a penalty shootout. Nevertheless, Grimsby’s resilience remained unbroken, as goalkeeper Christy Pym and centre-back Cameron McJannet withstood sustained United pressure.

What ensued was an extraordinary penalty shootout, one of the lengthiest in Carabao Cup history. With 26 penalties taken, both teams exhibited remarkable composure until Mbeumo’s sudden-death attempt crashed against the crossbar. This miss triggered a euphoric pitch invasion as Grimsby celebrated a memorable 12-11 victory. For Manchester United, this early exit from a tournament they had hoped would mark a redemption narrative represented a significant embarrassment.

The Premier League is set to resume this weekend, bringing renewed scrutiny to Manchester United's prospects for the upcoming season, as reported by UnitedinFocus.

Following a disappointing campaign in 2024/25, the club’s management—under the leadership of manager Ruben Amorim—faces considerable pressure to implement improvements.

Last season, United struggled to achieve consecutive victories in the Premier League, ultimately finishing in a lackluster 15th position.

Former players have weighed in on the team’s potential performance. Rio Ferdinand posits that United could secure a spot in the top eight this season, marking a notable improvement. In contrast, Paul Scholes has set a more ambitious target, advocating for a top-six finish.

This aligns with the expectations outlined by Ineos, which has challenged Amorim to reach that very objective in the 2025/26 season.

Although pre-season form has sparked some optimism among United supporters, with the team displaying encouraging signs and new acquisitions making their mark, historical trends indicate that pre-season performances often fail to predict a team’s true capabilities.

A decisive victory against Arsenal in the opening match could establish a positive momentum for the season ahead.

Roy Keane, during an appearance on the Stick to Football podcast, shared his outlook on United's potential finish: “At best, I foresee United placing 8th or 9th. I would be surprised if they managed to secure 6th place,” he remarked. His assessment underscores the challenges confronting Amorim, who must address various critical areas to facilitate meaningful advancement for the team.

Gary Neville contributed his perspective, suggesting that a fifth or sixth-place finish is attainable, albeit with the understanding that the team must prioritize a position within the highly competitive midfield, surpassing rivals such as Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand recently commented on the potential transfer of Alejandro Garnacho, a target for Chelsea, according to a report from talkSPORT.

Garnacho is anticipated to leave his current club this summer, with Chelsea being the frontrunner for his signature. The London club has engaged in discussions with Manchester United regarding Garnacho and is in the process of finalizing a deal for the young winger.

In addition to pursuing Garnacho, Chelsea is also interested in signing Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig before the transfer window closes.

Currently, Garnacho's popularity at Old Trafford has waned, partly due to certain aspects of his social media activity. Despite this, Ferdinand expressed his desire for the 21-year-old to remain at United. However, he acknowledged that manager Ruben Amorim may not view Garnacho as a suitable fit for the team's structure.

"I’ve said for a long time that as a footballer, I wouldn’t want to see him go," Ferdinand stated when discussing Garnacho with talkSPORT. "However, football is not solely about on-pitch performance. Everything must align, and if the manager feels he doesn’t fit what is required at the club, we must respect that decision. I would love to see Garnacho at United for many years; he is undoubtedly an asset."

Ferdinand's hope for Garnacho to stay at United is not surprising, especially considering the winger's talent and potential. Last season, Garnacho scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions, impressive statistics given his age and the challenges faced by United.

Ally McCoist also addressed the situation on talkSPORT, cautioning Chelsea against pursuing Garnacho. Nonetheless, United's Premier League rivals appear to be undeterred by these warnings.

Chelsea appears enthusiastic about the potential addition of Garnacho to their squad. According to highly regarded transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is eager to bring Garnacho to Stamford Bridge. While the club is yet to secure an agreement with Manchester United, they remain optimistic about finalizing the deal.

Additionally, it is believed that Xavi Simons favors a move to Chelsea over Manchester City, bolstering the club’s confidence in securing the talented Netherlands international as well.

Arsenal concluded their pre-season campaign with an impressive 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening. The Gunners exhibited dominance from the outset, effectively controlling possession and generating more significant scoring opportunities throughout the match.

The opening goal arrived in the 34th minute when Viktor Gyökeres elevated above the defense to connect with an expertly delivered cross, directing a precise header into the bottom-right corner of the net. Just two minutes later, Bukayo Saka extended the lead by tapping into an empty net after receiving a well-placed pass from Gabriel Martinelli.

While Athletic Bilbao showcased moments of potential, with Alex Berenguer and Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta testing goalkeeper David Raya, Arsenal's defensive organization proved resilient.

Following the halftime interval, Mikel Arteta’s squad continued to exhibit their momentum, with substitutes injecting fresh vigor into the lineup. The highlight of the match occurred in the 82nd minute, when Kai Havertz executed an impressive solo run through the Bilbao defense, ultimately rolling the ball past goalkeeper Unai Simón to seal the score at 3-0.

Arteta Maintains Optimism Following Pre-Season Defeat to Spurs

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has maintained a composed and optimistic stance despite his team’s narrow 1–0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong — their only loss during an otherwise productive pre-season tour of Asia, according to The Telegraph.

Speaking after the final whistle at the sold-out Kai Tak Sports Park, Arteta emphasized the broader benefits of the tour, describing the experience as an essential step in the team’s development.

“Of course, the result leaves a slightly bitter taste,” Arteta acknowledged. “However, I remain very encouraged by everything we’ve seen over the past 10 days. In many respects, we’re ahead of where I expected us to be at this stage.”

The North London derby was decided by a spectacular long-range effort from Tottenham’s Pape Matar Sarr. Yet, Arteta remained focused on the bigger picture rather than the result itself. “It’s a reminder of how fine the margins are between victory and defeat,” he noted. “We must continue to improve in managing those moments. But we regroup and push forward.”

The Gunners will return to London on Friday and conclude their pre-season with back-to-back home fixtures against Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao at the Emirates Stadium. Their Premier League campaign begins with a challenging away match against Manchester United on August 17.

The encounter also featured the debut of £64 million signing Viktor Gyökeres. The Swedish striker, recently acquired from Sporting CP, made a brief 15-minute appearance but had limited opportunity to influence the match. Nonetheless, Arteta expressed optimism about the forward’s integration.

“It was a brief debut, but it’s good to have that first appearance behind him,” Arteta said. “I’m confident we’ll see a different impact in his next outing, especially back home at the Emirates against Villarreal.”

Arteta also singled out Portuguese defender Cristhian Mosquera for praise following an impressive late cameo. “I’m very pleased to have both players with us,” he added. “They bring immediate energy and quality, and they’ll be valuable additions to the squad.”

Despite the result, Arteta’s message was clear: Arsenal’s foundations are strengthening, and the pre-season efforts in Asia have laid a promising groundwork for the upcoming campaign.

Liverpool Football Club has officially announced the signing of highly regarded young talent Will Wright from Salford City, as confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Wright, a 17-year-old striker, has successfully completed the second phase of his medical examination and is set to join the Premier League club on a contract that will extend until June 2028.

Romano highlighted the significance of the transfer, stating: "Will Wright completed second part of medical as new Liverpool player from Salford City. Contract until June 2028, three-year deal... and here we go."

Wright has garnered attention for his exceptional performances in youth competitions, having scored over 50 goals last season alone. His strong form has carried into the current summer, where he demonstrated his abilities during pre-season matches with Liverpool's senior squad.

The signing marks a significant turn of events, as Arsenal had been in the running for Wright and had reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Salford City two weeks prior to Liverpool's intervention. The Gunners aimed to enhance their under-21 squad through his acquisition. Additionally, clubs like Manchester City and Burnley were closely observing Wright’s development due to his potential, but it is Liverpool that has successfully secured his signature.

The move underscores Liverpool's strategy to invest in promising young talent, positioning Wright as a player to watch in the coming years as he aims to make an impact at the highest level.

Viktor Gyokeres has joined Arsenal's ranks
New Arsenal signing Viktor Gyokeres wants one thing from captain Martin Odegaard: assists. Gyokeres, 27, finally completed his £63.7million move to the Emirates on Saturday, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.

The Swede's arrival ends Arsenal's long search for a striker and boss Mikel Arteta hopes that he'll be the missing piece of their jigsaw. Gyokeres scored 97 goals in just 101 games for Sporting Lisbon, making him one of the most prolific marksmen in Europe.

But the former Coventry City talisman will need service and wants Odegaard to provide it. In a video posted on Arsenal's social media channels, Gyokeres can be seen reading out a letter from the Gunners skipper.

"If there's anything you need or any way I can help, just give me a shout," part of Odegaard's message read. "Some assists, please, would be nice," Gyokeres interjected.

The 27-year-old then continued reading, saying: "Looking forward to working together and sharing success in the season ahead. All the best, Martin."

Gyokeres then said: "Very nice. The only thing I need is some assists."

The Sweden international met Odegaard for the first time on Sunday, as he arrived in Singapore to watch Arsenal beat Newcastle 3-2. Odegaard scored the winning goal, converting an 84th-miniute penalty.

Next up for the Gunners is a clash with bitter north London rivals Tottenham on Thursday in Hong Kong. Gyokeres could make his debut in the 'friendly' but his lack of match fitness may well delay his first outing in an Arsenal shirt.

Arteta didn't rule out the possibility of Gyokeres featuring, though, saying: "Well I think he hasn't had a single training session with the team since the last game with Sporting when they became champions.
