AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC) 2026 CONGRESSES AND NATIONAL CONVENTION

Please find below the timetable for the forthcoming congresses of the African Democratic Congress leading up to its National Convention as preparations begin for the 2027 political cycle.
The congresses will be conducted in stages across the various levels of the party structure to ensure broad participation of members and proper organization ahead of the National Convention.

ADC Congress Timetable

A. Polling Unit and Ward Congresses: 2 April
B. Local Government Congresses: 3 April
C. State Congresses: 7 April
D. National Convention: 11 April

These congresses are critical to strengthening the internal democratic processes of the party. They will provide an opportunity for party members at all levels to participate in the reorganization of party structures, elect new leadership, and prepare the party for the political engagements leading to the 2027 general elections.

Members and stakeholders are therefore encouraged to actively participate in their respective congresses and contribute to building a stronger and more united party.

LIST OF NINE SENATORS THAT DEFECT TO ADC

Nine Senators from across three political parties have notified the senate of their defection to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Senators Victor Umeh, Tony Nwoye and Ireti Kingibe moved from the Labor party to ADC.

Five others, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Binos Yaroe, Lawal Adamu Usman, Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo and Augustine Akobundu resigned from the PDP to ADC.

Enyinnaya Abaribe, who was the only APGA member in the Senate, also defected to ADC.

However, Senate has given Senator Abaribe one week to reconsider his defection because his explanation that he dumped APGA because he was sacked by the party is not justified, as it is not covered by the constitution.

Hon Sani Yakubu Noma YARGIWA Resigns from PDP, Joins African Democratic Congress (ADC)

Member house of Representatives representing Argungu/Augie federal constituency has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a letter dated 12th March 2026 and addressed to his ward chairman in Birnin tudu gudale Ward of Augie Local Government he communicated his decision to leave the PDP with immediate effect.
