Often times, I've come across patients who say, ā€œGod forbid, I don’t have blood pressure.ā€ šŸ˜„ It's always so funny but It also a great opportunity to educate

Like seriously… are you a ghost?
Everyone has blood pressure! It is what keeps the blood circulating in the body.
Just that; some are normal, some are high and some are low
Just say, ā€œI haven’t checked it.ā€
Because honestly… nobody says, ā€œI don’t have body temperature.ā€ šŸ˜‚

Are you one of those people?, stop saying such!

Keep track of your blood pressure and stay safe

Farm Injury: What Do YOU Really Do?

Let’s be honest…

While working on the farm, cuts and injuries can happen at any time. Sometimes from cutlass, hoe, wire, or sharp objects hidden in the soil. But I want to ask you something, when you get injured on the farm, how do you manage it?
Do you:

Pour salt?
Use palm oil?
Apply herbs?
Wash with water and leave it open?
Or go straight to the hospital?

Be sincere oo 😁 I really want to hear from you. I will be discussing a very important topic about this soon, but first, I want to know how YOU handle yours.
Drop your answer in the comment section šŸ‘‡ Let’s learn from each other.

YOUR HEALTH, YOUR GREATEST FARM TOOL

You think farming is only about land, seed, rain, and harvest but truth be told: No healthy farmer = no successful farm because while you should be on the farm working, the body system already broke down pleading for care which would have been prevented initially.

From early mornings to long hours under the sun, farmers keep giving their all. Sadly, health is often the last thing we pay attention to until sickness forces us to stop. Hmmm..... Let's be health conscious even while gathering wealth, this is why the right health information matters.
Having correct, timely health guidance at your fingertips can:

Prevent complications
Save hospital costs
Prolong life
Help you stay active and productive on your farm
I want you to know something important today:
šŸ‘‰šŸ½ I am not just a farmer. I am a Nurse-Farmer meaning I understand both worlds:
The physical stress and realities of farming
The medical needs of the body, especially as we grow older

Someone or you might need:
Close health monitoring
Medication supervision
Health education
Proper care without unnecessary hospital visits
šŸ” Home health support can make a huge difference.
With proper guidance and care at home, many health problems can be prevented or well managed.

Your farm needs you strong.
Your family needs you alive and well.
Your health deserves attention not neglect.

šŸ¤” Let me ask you this:
When last did you go for health check up or take your elderly parent for such?
Drop a comment or message me. Let’s talk šŸ’¬šŸ’š

DON’T POISON YOUR UGU WITH LOVE!

Yes… fertilizer can kill if wrongly applied.

Hey my great farmers!
I know it’s been a while, please pardon my silence. I’ve been busy, but your crops never left my mind 😁

Now, let’s talk about something very important before your hard work turns into tears.

This is the season when your Ugu is mature enough for fertilizer application and yes, NPK is commonly used. But here’s the big question: are you applying it the right way?

Many farmers make this mistake of applying fertilizer too close to the Ugu stem because they think it works faster that way. Hmmm....

Sadly, what happens next is not funny at all
• The stem becomes weak
• Leaves start wilting
• Growth slows down
• Sometimes… the plant dies completely

Imagine spending your time, labour and money, only to unknowingly harm the very crop you’re trying to nourish. Painful, right?

Remember this:
Fertilizer is food, not medicine overdose. When applied wrongly, it burns the roots instead of feeding them.

So please, dear farmer:
āœ” Apply fertilizer at a safe distance
āœ” Don’t rush, good farming is patience + knowledge
āœ” Protect your investment and your harvest

Your Ugu deserves care, not casualties šŸ˜„

Nurse Vickie (Your Ugu Nurse) cares deeply about your farm success.

So tell me:
Have you ever lost Ugu after fertilizer application before?

Why Coconut Water Should Be Your Best Friend This Dry SeasonšŸ˜šŸ„‚šŸ„‚

Are you drinking enough water… or are you silently dehydrated without knowing?

As the dry season settles in, the heat rises, sweat increases, and many people walk around mildly dehydrated without realizing it, symptoms like headaches, dizziness, dry lips, fatigue, and even constipation become more common.

But here’s the good news…

šŸ’šCoconut Water is one of Nature’s Smartest Hydrators

Coconut water isn’t just a refreshing drink, it is a natural electrolyte powerhouse that does what ordinary water cannot.

1. Rapid Rehydration
Coconut water contains potassium, sodium, magnesium, and natural sugars, helping your body absorb water faster and replace salts lost through sweat.

2. Supports Heart Health
Its high potassium content helps balance blood pressure and reduces strain on the heart, important during intense heat.

3. Boosts Energy Naturally
Feeling weak or ā€œdrainedā€ by afternoon?
The natural glucose in coconut water provides gentle, sustained energy without spikes or crashes.

4. Aids Digestion
Dry season often slows digestion. Coconut water contains bioactive enzymes that help your gut work better and prevent constipation.

5. Clears the Skin From Inside Out
Better hydration → fewer pimples, less dryness, and a more glowing face.

6. Prevents Heat Stress & Overheating
Coconut water helps regulate body temperature and keeps the body cool during hot, dusty weather.

Do you know that just one cup of coconut water can provide more potassium than a whole banana.
No wonder it’s called ā€œnature’s sports drink.ā€

Let’s Talk!

How often do you drink coconut water?
Daily, once in a while or you don’t like the taste?

Tell me in the comments!
Your answer may help someone stay hydrated this season.

Is It Within Normal???

Dear farmer, as you check your crops daily, remember to check yourself too.
Many hardworking farmers ignore symptoms like headaches, dizziness, or tiredness until it becomes serious. Don’t wait till your body shouts before you listen.
A few minutes to check your BP can save years of regret.

ā€œWhen the Body Gave Up Before the Farm Didā€

Today's write up is about Chike because you might be that Chike in this story

There is a man named Chike, a passionate farmer known for his energy and love for the soil. Every morning, he was the first to reach his farmland and the last to leave. His crops thrived, his produce was always the best in the market, and people envied his consistency.

But one morning, something changed. He woke up feeling weak, dizzy, and breathless. ā€œMaybe I just need some water,ā€ he thought. He ignored it and went to the farm anyway. By midday, he collapsed right beside his Ugu bed.

It wasn’t the farm that failed him, it was his body.

When he recovered, the doctor told him something he’d never forget:

ā€œYour farm can wait, but your body cannot.ā€

Too many farmers today are like Chike: hardworking, dedicated, and full of dreams… yet forgetting that health is the foundation of wealth. The truth is, your strength is your capital as a farmer. When your body gives up, even your best farmland becomes useless.

So, dear farmer, before you rush into the field , remember this:

🌿 Drink water — dehydration creeps in silently.
🌿Eat good food — farming burns more calories than you think.
🌿 Protect yourself — the sun isn’t your enemy, but it can be cruel.
Listen to your body, rest when it speaks because in farming, the soil may be rich but you, the farmer, are the real treasure.

Stay strong, stay safe, and farm smart.
The land depends on you just as much as you depend on it.

🌱 Today's Post: Little Efforts, Big Harvests 🌱

Every seed you plant today carries a story, a story of hope, growth, and reward. Farming doesn’t just start in the soil; it starts in the mind with belief, patience, and consistency.

You don’t have to own 10 acres before you call yourself a farmer. Start where you are, with what you have. The small step you take today, that single Ugu stem, that few beds of maize, or that bucket of water, is what grows into your harvest tomorrow.

Farming is not just about crops; it’s about commitment, discipline, and the will to see results even before they appear.

šŸ‘‰ So tell me, what seed are you planting today?
šŸ‘‰ Are you preparing your land, your heart, or your mind for a bigger harvest?

Remember, every farmer you admire once started small but they started! šŸ’Ŗ

Follow Nurse Vickie (Ugu Nurse) for inspiring tips on farming, health, and growth because we grow crops, but we also grow people. 🌿
